24K for onkyo 3300.

DOnt say its out of your budget. as you already are asking about soundcards to buy you might have 24K, cause you wont need a soundcard for Onkyo 3300
two of the speakers on the title cost more than 15K + you need a sound card i am betting you have around 25K . so spend it!

A dedicated reciever+speakers setup is the way to go as long as you can afford one. Instead of the crappy (I mean it) Onkyo you'll be better off with a HK134 (10K) with a sub-sat package of your choice. I'd recommend going to AV stores and auditioning the systems yourself.

What's the motherboard that you are using? Chances are that it'll handle most of the multichannel formats. If not, decoding audio in software should not be a big deal for a moderately powerful rig either. And if you are going the receiver way then the receiver will do it for you.

ok... so 3300 it is for me then. :D But since the topic is on, tell me how can we get Dolby DTS 5.1 audio from our supposedly PC speakers suck as FX5051 or anyone for that matter without coaxial port? Sound card does it?

DTS and dolby digital are audio codecs.

if you have a PC and 5.1 soundcard ( any ) you can do software decoding of Dolby and DTS.

But if you want Hardware decoding you will need a supported soundcard.

Z5500, HTS3100/3300 have hardware decoders. you send the digital signal and they decode.

Hii..guys this is my 1st comments on this blog site..hope u appreciate it..so here we go

I purchased edifier da5000 pro a few days back from nehru place it sounds perfect..a great vfm

using it on my extreme gamer card for 10k its unbeatable.

thanks...hope this help u.

See,

For movies and games...at that budget no one beats z5500 .
But , if the topic shifts to music then edifier s550 + other 2.1 comes in...

otherwise , 15k approx = z5500 hands down. ( movies + games )

For a hall of 15 X 10, which will be a good choice? z5500 or 3100? I am getting z5500 @17k. What wud be a good price for 3100?

i think the onkyo 3100 will be on a much higher price ..

As far as I know it sells in " promises " ( a shop ) at around 28k ...not sure though....

@mib2_007

Respect ur money by getting Edifier s550 :D and disrespect ur money by getting Z5500-D :D That's all I want to say :P :D cheers
sorry , if he buys S550 he will have to spend 24K and he can get the onkyo 3300 at 20K which will suit his needs better.

so finally S550 is all out !! , cause if he spends more than 20K onkyo 3300 is better, and below 15K he cant get S550 , so, its insane to think about s550 !!
stop suggesting it, his look at his requirements first.

@kevin, thats in meters !! i think both will be weak for a hall that big ! :(
you need a customized setup for that big room.

In this case, onkyo 3300 will be better but I suggest the thread creator to audition both the set before buying and then take decision.

3100 is around 17k in reliance/big bazzar but i havent seen 3300 for less then 23k anywhere. Any pointers from where to get 3300 for 20k.
