Re: Steam - Ongoing deals thread

Hey guys, can anyone of you do me a favor? I want to buy some stuff from steam but the problem is, I don't own a Credit Card. All you need to do to help me out is adding $5 to my steam wallet (will PM you my steam id and password) using your credit card. I'll pay you $5 back immediately by getting your mobile recharged of the same account. TIA.

Noticed this too. Weird thing is the game shows up in the popup via the Steam client but not when one browses the store (all it finds is the F1 2010 "trailer"). Exact same thing happened to Fallout New Vegas as well. Game was on sale but was region locked to exclude India.

F1 2010 was particularly disappointing considering an Indian company ie. - Reliance - has a 50% stake in Codemasters. Even in spite of this, Indians still cant get a good deal?

Sux totally.

Pretty aware of that, bought it because I wanted it. Plus I get a few fights in everyday. $7 must have been good though I doubt it went that low, recently.

Yea dude, sorry about that. I went and checked the receipt I got, and it was actually $10 and you were right it was not recent (actually more than 1 year back).

Yeah, Splinter Cell Conviction, edited my posts. Thinking of getting Mafia II.
I would highly recommend Mafia 2. It is not an open world game, and you cannot do stuff like GTA. However, if you like story based games, then it is brilliant. The writing is some of the best in games. The characters are very well made. Also, the ending will leave a lump in your throat. The DLCs are crap though.

Tell me the game you want. I will purchase it as a gift. Is that okay?

Hey, thanks but the problem is its not a game. Actually, Team Fortress 2 went Free 2 Play(F2P) last week. I gave the game a shot and I'm highly enjoying it, and so I wishes to upgrade my F2P account to Premium account(which has some additional benefits).. In order to upgrade, I need to buy some item from the in-game store. Items can only be purchased using Steam Wallet. So, all you need to do is - login with my steam id(will PM you my steam password) and click on Add Fund. It will ask for your credit card detail and after transaction of $5, it will add $5 to my steam wallet which I can further use to purchase item/upgrade my F2P account. BTW, are you on Gtalk? TIA.

Re: Steam - Ongoing deals thread

As I mentioned in another thread, "Fallout New Vegas Franchise sale" seems to be "region locked" for India. We cant buy it here. Apparently the only around this is if someone abroad "gifts" it to us....

Does that work? Or will the gift be valid only for US region?

Re: Steam - Ongoing deals thread

@quixand

Apparently "gifting" overrides any "region lock" issues. Thats what I have been told.

For more details, see these links.

Please note that I make no guarantees on the issue. I am only telling you what I know from what I have read online or been told by others. I have never gifted/recd. a gift of a region locked game myself. I do however know people who have done this successfully (eg. Spindoctor on this forum).

IMO, this makes the whole "region lock" thing pointless to begin with. Only problem is knowing someone abroad who can "gift" it to you on Steam. You can then reimburse them some other way. Some use Paypal but I am not sure how "legal" this is from the RBI's point of view....

Re: Steam - Ongoing deals thread

^yup gifting works. I've used this once to get a game at a cheaper price. Anyway, if you want someone to gift you a game, head over to Rock, Paper, Shotgun forums and post your request on this thread.

Re: Steam - Ongoing deals thread

Thanks for posting the links. I will check them out once I reach home. The reason I asked about the region thing was that I got an album as a gift on Amazon from a friend in the US but could not download it it due to region issues. Haven't followed up on that, too.

@Arjun Where do keep finding these things :) :) nice!!
