Yep. You need to be online to play,as of last time I checked. Don;t know about the steam version though.

Got JC2 today. Hope they put Street Fighter 4 on sale again, I missed it the last time because Steam blocked my credit card (auto blocked when you spend over a certain limit within a small period of time) and it was too late by the time Steam Support unblocked it.
