Oh really? We'll see about that :devil2: :devil2:

Darky --> :chair: <-- K.I.T.T.

lol ;)

Awesome dude!!!!! 1.37 v!!!! That is lesser than stock on my 3200+. And that too for a dual core at 2.7 GHz!!! Absolutely brilliant!!!

Hey real generous of you pal, to put in such a lot of effort to thoroughly test/burn-in my chip. When can I expect it?

Just kidding, some Nice OC results there !

BTW guys, a serious question - do the Opterons OC better than the FX chips?

i don't think opetrons OC better than FX's actually FX are the hand picked chips which are better at OC(the chips made from the middle of the waffer are better) ....... but if u get good stepping of opetron it might be better than FX ..... but FX is always gr8 OCer u won't have to worry about stepping but i heard than sometimes before there were crap batch of FX-55 ..... so its all on ur luck ....

Yess :D ! Infact the FX chips even with thier unlocked multi's are horrible OC'ers. the FX-57 rarely does above 3 Ghz, but then nobody's complaining :ohyeah:

I dont think so.

I think the FXs are better oc'ers. The percentage of high oc'ers are more in FX. FX is made from the best possible die. And initial Optys were made from a similar die. I doubt if today's Optys oc as much as the initial batch.

And as Rahu said, with an FX, you really did not need to bothger abt stepping or anything. Almost eveyr FX is a guaranteed high oc'er...

^^ Not exactly Nikhil :) Though they are made from better die's they aren't that great. A lot of people struggle to get anything from them.

The E4 Venice till date is the best OC'er of your talking about the %tage of the overclock, but yes, with the unlocked multi's many FX's chips are dreams..

What I meant abt the percentages is not the % of oc'ing. But the % number of chips which are actually very good at oc'ing.

Maybe 35% of Opty chips are really good oc'ers. But 90% of FX chips are great oc'ers.

Nopes its the other way round :) Most Opty's will gauranteed do 2.6 ~ 2.7 Ghz just like Venices that do 2.5 Ghz.

%tage of overlock means the %tage over the stock speed, like 3.6 over 1.8 is a 100% OC, etc. and not the no. of successful chips..:)

I know what % of oc means DUH!!!

I was making my own definition. I was trying to explain that if 100 Optys are tested, maybe 35 of them will do 2.8 or 2.9. But if 100 FX are tested, 80 or 90 of them may do 2.8/2.9 :P

We both are talking abt totally different things :P

Maybe that's becoz, they're already clocked at like 2.6-2.8 Ghz, no biggie if they overclock 0-200MHz :bleh:

Well, I was not actually referring to the FX-57s.... they are already clocked at 2.8.

I was talking abt the FX 55.... I guess many FX-57s can touch 3g and more.

I have heard FX-57 touching 3.2GHz.

I disagree, 3ghz is pretty easy considering its only 200 Mhz more. I should think 3 ~ 3.1Ghz with decent cooling should be fairly easy on the FX-57. Though the thrill of going from 1.8Ghz to 3Ghz is much more with the Opty as also considering its much cheaper. BTW there was talk earlier of the Opty's being castrated FX cores - why would anyone be thrilled if the FX cores dint overclock all that much? ;)

I thought these things were just entering the market, and correct me if i'm wrong.. but I havent seen any results with these chips to prove that they are the *best* Venice's to date.

Slap on some Phase change cooling and you could take this chip to 3.4 ~ 3.8Ghz. 4Ghz has already been broken BTW :)
