Had a convo going with ggt, regarding pros and cons of p2p and DDl sites. Now, that the threads are merged..

We continue here. :)

I got a 2mbps connection. Most torrents max out my connection. There is no loss of data in case of net-connection failure. I download what i like and share i back or upload to maintain decent ratio.
:)

With DDL, they give me abt 20kbps more speed than torrents. But, hard to find resumable links and files which are in just one link and not spread over 4-5 different links. I dont have a premium acct. Hence, i have to wait for sometime so that my next link can start downloading. Hence, it takes time, whereas, torrents download continously and if i like a specific file, i just move it to the first position of queue. :)

you just need to find a proper host which supports resume links.
i download only from such file hosting sites and i dont think i am missing out on something.(by not using torrents).
torrents are useful for me if one is looking for some classic stuff (old stuff).
the latest releases are readily available on such file sharing hosts :)

Well, there are many. wupload, even premium users dont have the resumable links !!

Its a shame, Indian TV producers do not release the shows on DVDs. Havent seen the "Kahin To Hoga" DVDs till date :/

Except the indian tv series all of the above mentioned can be found :)
you just got to know the right sources ;)

torrent....
pro's:
1.starts immediately
2.can be paused/stop and continue later
3.can obtain the maximum speed(for eg: 2MBps connection, you will get a constant speed of 256Kbps or around if seeder has a good upload speed)
4.you cab get some exclusive files with very large size
5.you can select what you want to download
6.make schedule and some priority setting,,, adjust speed if you want to browse and download on the same time
7. finally a torrent is torrent
con's
1.if there is no seed, then forget it
2.some seeders have slow upload, you kinda of have patience
3.some times errors like data checking may lead the download to a complete garbage

DDl
pro's:
1.if you cant find a torrent then your choice will be DDl
2.even a old file will be still alive in the server, your luck dude
3.pause and make use of file manager
con's
1.premium access and speed
2.dosent have access to most torrent pros
3.some file or most are removed to license blah blah

to be using torrent for the past 5 years, started using many torrent sites and cliient... and i downloaded around 4TB of data for the last 5 years...(24x7)the only time the system sleep is when the power cut
my choices are
1.piratebay
2.demonoid
3.kat
4.torrentday
5.ahashare
6.1337x
7.isohunt

and the clients i used are
1.utorrent
2.bitcomet(for more than 4 years)
3.vuze(currently shifted)
P2P is always a best choice

Also, what if i dont have the premium acct. on which the files are uploaded ?

Completly agree with you except the sources of public torrent sites.

Public sites, not worth using. thnx for your input.

I would definately prefer torrents , but that doesn't necessarily mean completly disregarding DDL.

For Large amount of downloads , Torrents .

For old stuff , DDL.

For Speed , one might say DDL , but now torrents have decent speed , they do maxx out your connection bandwidth.

Filehosts like ifile.it,mediafire has scheduling as well as multiple download available for free users.
Megaupload has some happy hours when free registered users get premium privileges.
Rapidshare had earlier points redeem option where the amount you upload and then the incumbent download frequency could get you premium account.
This system is better on some newer filehosts like filesonic,Hotfile etc.
So it all depends if you want to maintain your sharing ratio :P mium account.

The only reason I prefer p2p over HTTP is because of resume in whatever situation http would timeout but p2p never even after many disconnection

i used to prefer streaming sites for tv shows like projecttv.....

which also doubles as resumable links ....idm FTW

i prefer BoB x264 re-enc rips now

is there any other sites which has streaming for movies...and tv shows

well i have a good buffer on my trackers which would last me at least a year or two

and they always max out my 0.5 conn

so p2p is all the way for me

although i do occasionally scourge cyberlocker indexers for some hard to find content

I prefer P2P primarily due to the indexing feature, and the resume on my buggy connection. Plus I love to seed.

:)

Indexing - one of the most important features. Indexing movies/TV shows as per actors/directors/collections is one of the nice features to search for ur content. I havent come across any DDL site with such organized links !!
There is this katz download site, but it has random bunch of links and most of them are either leeched from p2p encoding groups or crappy TV caps. Another thing is the Reliability of files. In p2p - good sites, u r sure of what u r getting. In DDL, u will know only after downlding files !!

I agree that most of the original encoders post it on torrent.
But the fact is the ddl links are available within 1 hour of the torrent release.
Also the latest torrent release suffer from low seed count.
The public "latest" torrent many of the latest releases can turn out to be fake.
Regarding the indexing part there are many sites which now index the ddl files according to file hosts.
So finding a file according to a file host is some what easy now.
The only drawback with the ddl links may be copyright infringement which delete the file but there are many re encoders active so getting a file is not that hard.

there is a streaming site for tv shows but i dont think i can mention the name here :(

I Use BoB and 300MBUnited For TV Shows and Movies respectively.90% Of Their Releases are Not available on Torrent,Hence DDL

For torrents I think Piratebay & RuT Is More Than enough and Private trackers are Largely overrated. They either Have 1 CD XViDs With Pi$$-Poor Quality or 720ps With a Gargantuan file Size.Still Have TL & TV,But Hardly Use Them :)

For Music,There are Some Gem Of Russian DDL Sites With Dedicated uploaders and Every possible release You Can think of On Resumable ifolder.ru :)

Yes, When it comes to Sharing & Encoding,Russians kick Some Serious a$$es

yep rutorrent is simply an unappreciated gem in the wilderness

its the biggest tracker out there bigger than Demonoid

seeding/leeching activities are plentiful, no hard and fast rules regarding ratio or h&r

but the only problem is that the tracker is in Russian and is very confusing to browse

p2p encoding groups are fairly recent. there were no p2p groups earlier. And who said new torrents lack speed ? Whenever i jump on a torrent-file size 8Gb, with no leechers or seeders, after 4 mins, we have 9 seeders and 25 leechers . lol. And the Public sites fake is exactly the reason, i never recommend public BT sites for ur files. You can never be sure. In P2P , your files never get deleted unless the torrent dies :P . If the DDL file gets deleted, do u have to wait for next upload ? And help out the ( streaming TV )guy through PM :P

Just checked out the 300mbunited site, looks good except that, some of his 1280*536 rips are passed as 720p :P

If people are okay with his 23fps rips and no DTS(the reason we want 720p or 1080p),then the guy is doing great !!

one of my 720p file's "mediainfo"

Video

I would love my files with 5.1 , 24bits lossy and DTS. 'Coz, that is how, i am gonna enjoy my movie.

And if u think 720p is piss poor quality, then u are mistaken, I am sure u have heard of "Imagine", "Vision", HD Brise, HDChina ... i can go on and on... these groups provide the best rips, including the best pre-releases. And yes all are P2P, Imagine has got their own P2P tracker and its amazing !!

RuT is a very big tracker.. I use Opera/auto translate for the browse section but still it isnt perfect. Hence, i look into it once in a while.

Well you just checked out one of the reencoder whos primary objective is to give decent quality at the minimum possible file size.
If you have a giant HDTV with a proper home theater setup those 6 and 8gb files would do justice to that download but when you watch it on a 20 or 22 inch monitor you would hardly notice any difference.
Just try ddl2 and search you required criteria.
You would be amazed at the variety of quality you could get with your download.
Also now we have a premium file host seller in our forum as a dealer so getting a premium file account will not be problem henceforth :P
