my bro has the asus p5k dlx mobo .. psu is corsair hx 620 ..

now the problem is whenever we try to change anything in bios and save the settings, then the mobo shuts down and restarts and shows overclocking failed and revert to default settings ..

now is it common with this mobo to shut down and restart after changing some settings in bios? i have never experienced such thing with any other mobo i have used .. anyone with this mobo ..pls help ..:)

Yeah I experience the same in mine..

Same PSU..

Restarts wen u change (but not restricted to) the memory timings, fsb, etc..

But doesn shoe o'erclockin failed all the time tho...

have the same mobo.. but the PSU is a VX450..

changed the memory timings.. and no worries at all... also flashed the bios to the latest version after it showed errors on first boot where it would not ID my E8400 proccy...

updated bios solved the prob..

^^ as per the above replies , im guess what u need is a bios update to the latest one , also change ur cmos battery n check , maybe its loosing out on power and not able to remember the settings and all.....

Is tat BIOS version 0705???

Did u try changing the mem timings and exiting BIOS?? Did it reboot then??

i think the bios ver is 0601 .. something like that ..will check battery ..the mobo has been to service station and back .. still prob persists ..

is this cos of this particulat psu ..need to try other psu ..:@

not impressed at all with this asus mobo ..

Its definitely not PSU problem. I have the same HX620W with Asus P5K Premium. Whenever the oc settings are stable enough in practical, the board boots with a 1 second sleep after saving the bios settings. Try to overclock by lower margins, maybe you are limited by the processor?
