Graphic Cards Palit 9600 GT power query.

The card requires a 6-pin 12V auxiliary power connector. For that purpose a SLI 6-pin power cable is included in the box of the card.

The cable has 2 molex connectors. Should I connect both of them or just 1 is good enough.

At the moment I have given my card for replacement. When I took the card out for replacement I noticed that the engineer I had hired to setup the machine had used only one molex connector. No one else had a problem with their Palit 9600 gt so I am wondering if that was the reason in the first place.

Please advice should I connect both of them when I get my card back or only 1?
 
you have to connect both of them..the pci-e slot can provide 75w of power to the card any card that needs more like the 9600gt itself under load will need additional power from the 6pin that has 3 lines of 12v that can provide additional 75w. If u connect only one molex u wont get additional 75w power delivered to the card if it needs. The card may run with that single molex but not at all recommended.

there are yellow wires +12v and black wires-ground and red +5v as standard. In 2 molex to 6-pin converters, 2 molex having 2 of 12v lines and 2 ground and other molex having one 12v wire n ground line makes the 6pins of 3 +12v and 3 ground. Hence by not connecting one molex you may end up providing 75/2th or 75/3th of power which maybe required by the card under load. The 75w max is official rating however most of psu with 6pin converter can provide more watts.
 
Ya connect both ..when i connected only one when i first took the card..it popped me message saying my card is not getting enough power then i connected the other one too :P
 
I am using a 500 watt VIP gold. It has 2 6-pin 12V auxiliary power (6 pin pci express power cable) connectors I am posting the pic because I still haven't got my card back so I can't check to see if it is the same power adapter as required by the card.

My question is: Can I use one of these connectors to directly power my card? Else I could split 1 molex connectors to make them 2 and then combine them again using the converter with the card.
 
^^ Yes you can directly use that. The converter which came along with the card is for those who doesn't have the 6 pin connector. :)
