Hi all.

Very much inclined towards Panasonic 32LX700, but have also seen LG PearlBlack, Samung 5 series, Sony V series. Panasonic seems to be the clear winner here with respect to picture, sound, features. SD is excellent in Panasonic, others are all very average. Actually, I'm planning to use QED RCA cable from set-top box to LCD TV to make SD quality like DVD quality. QED cable is around 600 rs per meter. My question to you all is if the QED cable can improve the SD picture quality, can I go for a cheap LCD like LG PearlBlack and connect QED cable and enjoy good quality picture, rather than buying an expensive Panasonic and then connecting a QED cable. Hope you all understood my query. Thanx for reading.:)

1)Panasonic.

2) Silk purse out of a sow's ear? There's no way QED cables are going to make SD from an STB, of all things, any better. Do yourself a favour, and don't fall for that marketing crap.

1) First place Samsung series 6 then Sony w series

2) LOL no cable (on earth) can convert SD to DVD ....

Wait for new setup box with better connectivity options...

Sun Direct here in Chennai has Component out, i think this is the first STB to have it, so I hope connecting a Component to LCD will have a better picture quality than a Composite. Any suggestions ?

well big tv was the first stb to have component.and yes there is a significant difference when connected via component on my sony lcd.

the sony 32W400a produces more contrast then other models with a measured contrast of 2500:1 static(claimed 3000:1) and produces a black level of 0.1cd/m2 which is again better then the competition especially the LG,pansonic.however the samsung is almost as good as the sony and costs less.but the sony has a antiglare screen which is good.the 2008 sony lcds also consumes slightly less power then the competition 0.5 watts at standby and 90 watts at 200cd/m2 which is around 50% of backlight setting.

in the panasonic the colors are more plasma like and has even better viewing angles but the black levels arent as good as sony or samsung and contrast are at the max 1000:1 even for the best AIPS,SIPS panels.

@adder so which one would you go for?

i would go for the sony since apart from the above mentioned advantage it is FHD which for eagle eyed guy like me can see the difference and but if i want to save some money i would go for the panasonic TX-32LX80H costs only MRP 46900.

in 32" size, dont go with full hd resolution (1920*1080). you need atleast 40" to see that resolution.

go with sony bravia's new v series 32" with 1366*768 resolution for 49500.

telling you because i have brought it for myself recently from coroma superstore.

i paid them 2k more and they have given me 2 years extended warrenty whic sony shoroom or sony world is also not giving.
EDIT : it can accept a 1080i signal.

tested with my pc having 8800gt via component out.
