Hello Everyone, I am planning to build a PC for around 41-45K budget... And here goes the questioner

    • Cabinet - Antec SONATA- I ( dono if this can be used with current generation RIG. It has 2 120mm fan. 1st pumping out the air from the hdd bay and the other at the rear.)
    • Optical drive - Liteon DVD RW
    • Hard disc - Seagate 750 GB hdd

    No gaming as of now. Will be using my XBOX360 for gaming. When i feel Xbox 360 is of no use to me, I will add a GPU to the RIG later

    • Might be later when i feel i need extra juice of the cpu. I have overclocked my current CPU(AMD Athlon 64 3200+) years back.

Intel ivy i5 3570K or Intel ivy i5 3550
Asus Maximus V GENE or P8Z77-M PRO
Gskill 1x4GB DDR3 1600MHZ CL9 RIPJAWS X or Corsair Vengeance

suggestion needed on SMPS and good 2.1 speakers.

Regarding the cabinet, dono if this can be used with current generation RIG. It has 2 120mm fan. 1st pumping out the air from the hdd bay and the other at the rear. I can mod it if needed so that i can save few thousands.

Regarding GPU, can the onboard gpu handle my basic requirements like watching full hd movies?? bcoz, Will be using my XBOX360 now for gaming. When i feel Xbox 360 is of no use to me, I will add a GPU to the RIG later.

The Intel IGP is good enough to play HD content so no need to worry.

Processor : Intel i5 3570K is a newer generation Core i5 processor whereas i5 2500K is a sandy bridge architecture processor.. Does it make any difference if i get a i5 2500K sandy over the other?? or should i stick to the ivy bridge architecture and go for a non -K model in case of budget constrains or availability issues??

Motherboard : Will go for the either of the board based on the availability..

RAM : dono if i should stick with 1 X 4gb or go for 2 X 4gb.. will make the decision at later stage when the config doesn't exceed my budget..

Cabinet : In that case, I would go for Corsair carbide 400R or any other better case..

Cooler : Will the stock cooler handle the temperature of the cpu efficiently without overclocking??? Should i buy a thermal paste separately or the one it comes with is fair enough??

SMPS : Please recommend a good SMPS for this config..

Other suggestions are also welcomed..

I think you should go with the 2500k, there's not much difference between them which justifies the high price difference.

I feel there is sufficient reason to go for the Core i5 3570k over the Sandy-Bridge chip if possible, even if it cannot be over-clocked very high.

  • Processor: If you want to over-clock you will have to go for a -k marked processor with the Z77 chipset, anything amiss [either a non-k marked processor OR non-Z77 based motherboard] you cannot over-clock. For current tasks the Ivy-Bridge processor on stock is more than sufficient if you want to over-clock later buy a third-part cooler then. This will free up some of your budget for other pressing needs.
  • RAM: As far as possible try to go for a dual-channel kit. 2 x2GB OR 2 x4GB is your call, although RAM prices are at all time lows.
  • Cabinet: Your best bet in the sub ~5500/- price range is the Corsair Carbide 400R. You can check out Bit Fenix Outlaw for ~3900/-, contact these chaps for sourcing it --> XTREME GRAFIX | Where Indian Gaming Is Rendered.
  • Cooler: There are conflicting reports on this point and anyways I am not an advocate of the stock Intel cooler, if you face over-heating issues [processor touching 60° C and above on day-to-day operations] then buying a base third-party TIM and reapplying the same should solve the issue. Unless you do not look forward to over-clocking the chip, save cash instead of splurging on an entry-level heat-sink and fan combo.
  • SMPS: Corsair TX v2650W ~5800/- will be the best bet for you OR get in touch with Kaizen Infotech [Go in the channel sales section --> Corsair ? High performance DDR3 memory upgrades, 80 PLUS certified power supply units, SSD drives, computer cases, CPU cooling, USB flash drives, pc speakers, and gaming headsets] and try to source the Corsair TX550M from them.

Processor : seams like finding i5 3570K will be a toughest task.. So, what should be my alternative CPU?? I will not be overclocking the proccy any time sooner.. Overclocking will come handy only when time demands for it.. Should i stick with -K marked processor and go with sandy bridge CPU or I should have to stick with Ivy bridge CPU and go for non -K marked processor?? I feel the later would be better.. But i cant make my mind :(..

Mobo : Seams like Maximus V GENE doesn't have a on-board GPU.. So, I am left with P8Z77-M PRO..

RAM : As suggested, will go for 2 X 4gb 1600MHZ CL9 RIPJAWS X

Here are your answers Navin --
  • If you are sure that you will not over-clock within a year of this purchase drop your idea of going with a -k marked processor and buy a vanilla Core i5 3550. If this is not the case and you wish to over-clock from the get go then you can consider the Core i5 2500k.
  • The motherboard no longer carries an iGP, it is all on the processor chip. The motherboard should be capable of using the processor based iGP. Any Intel H77 / H67 / Z77 motherboard will be capable of this task. Since you are not actively seeking an over-clock capable RIG anymore it will be better if you go for the Intel DH77-KC ~7000/- OR ASUS P8H77-V ~9500/- instead of the more expensive Z77 chipset based offerings.

@navino87 as you have expressed that you may-OR-may-not over-clock the system I suggest you save some dough on this count and get a more powerful graphics card [GTX660Ti / HD7870] in the near future.

Also noted, that you have chosen the LOGITECH MK260 wireless starter kit, it will not work out for gaming as almost all wireless peripherals exhibit lag of some-kind due to the latency involved in transmission of the signal and this can cause issues whilst gaming; character not strafing in time, car response not good etc etc.

Option 1 is best ! But Where is CPU Cooler? The Stock Cooler is More of a Dummy then a Performer! At Full Load the Temps go Insane :|

Is the problem only with the mouse or with both keyboard and mouse?? If its only with mouse, can i get a Logitech Wireless Keyboard K270 and use my existing mouse along with it??. Thought a wireless keyboard would be really useful when watching movies..

No it is for both because they will use the same transmitter. You can get a wireless keyboard + wired mouse but the keyboard response will suffer whilst gaming. So it is your call.

BTW, I missed to add something here.. Can my APC 650VA UPS handle this config?? All i need is a backup for just 5 mins..

Should handle the RIG for about ~1 -->2 minutes before cutting out.

All depends under what load circumstances you are pushing the UPS, if it is gaming then expect the UPS to hold for lesser time due to extra power draw from the hard-drive activity and loaded graphics card.
 
Today I have made an inquiry to delta peripherals Chennai.. They promised that they could arrange me components from both options (Intel i5 3570K+P8Z77-M PRO and Intel i5 3550+Asus P8H77-V). The price difference between the both options is ~3500(updated prices in the above post).. Now, i couldn't make my mind as to which option to go for.. Please help me in making a wise decision..

@navino87, if those are the margins of difference the -k marked processor + Z77 motherboard are the way to go. Just that you better confirm it again and more importantly you will need to buy a third party heat-sink fan combo with this build to over-clock the setup and that will bump up costs anywhere between ~2500/- -->6000/- [in addition to the ~3500/- quid you are putting down for the RIG].

@navino87 why can to contact mahivar computer at first floor or opps sethia info, if they can arrange the board asap soon.. AFAK in deltapage, the guys is not reposed the important components parts and they told i dont have or if he might be more busy and lazy for not reposed call and email at fix deal, that i would like to preorder
 
@ ALPHA17, Thanks bro.. Think there wont be much of difference in price that they have quoted.. Bcoz PrimeABGB quoted Rs.43600(without shipping charges) for the same.. But the shipping charges would spoil things up.. So thought of sticking to local vendor. Now here is the plan, I will go for the Intel i5 3570K+P8Z77-M PRO option, Use it for about a week time(without overclocking) and if the temperature seams to be fine with the stock cooler, will stick with the same. But if temperature seams to be a problem, I will get a third party heat-sink and OC the proccy ;)

@Arun.P Thanks for the input bro.. Will check with mahavir and sethia as well.. Any other suggestion on shops would be helpful..
