Day before yesterday i went to prime and i replaced the faulty vx550 and they gave me a new one... Yesterday i installed it in my rig and booted up the machine... after few minutes my machine restarted... even after changing the old vx550 the problem was still there... After doing all the things recommended by yall i did the last thing... I formatted my computer... And my machine worked well for few hours and after sometime it again restarted... After formatting the computer my rig worked well so i thought that the problem is gone but even after formatting the comp the problem is still there... I am really frustrated now... What shud i do? Is there any other PSU that yall cud recommend coz this thing is really not working in my pc :(

Possible you can try different RAM -- from a friend.
Ok... I'll Do That :(... BTW asingh is there any possibility that i again got a faulty PSU?

Can u recommend me a good PSU in 4.8K range? I am really sick of VX550 now :(?

^^ Since you had earthing issue, either your RAM or VRAM is failing. Try booting without the graphics card.

No don't make the mistake of buying an other PSU. I had the same issue and bought a new VX450, only to zero in that my HD4850 was failing.

Hey..!

Yes, it is possible that you could have gotten a faulty VX550, but the probability of that is low. :) Now what to suggest....! Would recommend that you isolate each component one-by-one.

1. Bread box your system. Put the motherboard on a foam or thermocol sheet and hook it up. (This would root out any short circuit).

2. Try different RAM/GPU.

3. Is the Noctua back plate insulated correctly.

4. Try with stock HSF, of course RE-TIM correctly.

Let us know. Best.

Today I reassembled my pc... I removed ram, Sata cable & gpu & I reconnected them... But still no success... My computer restarts sometimes when it is on login page and sometimes when it is in windows or while surfing the net...

I know computer also restarts when there's CPU heating issue which I have faced earlier but my CPU is not overheating...

1 core : 38c

2 core : 32c

3 core : 32c

4 core : 32c

This is my CPU idle temp... On load it reaches 62c... When I run "LinX"...

Any more advices? shud I replace this vx550 with S12II 520w or shud I buy tx650 by adding some more money? Do u guys think that there's some problem in my motherboard coz earlier I was facing windows installation issue when I was using sata DVD drive to install windows although the problem was not in the sata DVD drive...

^^I dont think the issue is ur PSU. It could be the mobo. Just remove the DVD drive cable frm the mobo and start it with only the HDD, RAM and gpu. Also try removing all the cabinet connectors frm the mobo like power on , restart ,hdd led wire connectors.....and jump start the mobo with a screwdriver.

cheers.

I m so f***cd up... I can't blame the motherboard for restarting issue coz earlier I was using gigabyte PSU and my computer was working fine... I am so damn confused...

Did you breadbox it like I suggested..?
Sorry I didn't coz I don't think there's any short circuit issue or heating issue... As far as the ram and GPU are concerned they are working properly...

Update: Today I checked my corsair PSU in my neighbor's rig to whom I sold my gigabyte PSU and in my neighbor's rig my PSU worked flawlessly without any hitch...

What do you guys think now is there any problem in my motherboard?

are u using the same old power cable for connecting to the PSU???
that might be the source of the problem.hav u checked the other plug points in ur home by connecting to them?
better use the Corsair 3-pin plug with an adaptor(easily available for 30 bucks) and connect to the plug point

Nope... I tried my another computer's power cord... and still the problem is there...

Update: I gave my motherboard for RMA coz of the file corrupt error that i had faced earlier while installing The Windows 7 OS and now bcoz of the incompatibility with my VX550... I hope a new motherboard wont give me these problems... :)

BTW Does anyone know how much time does Gigabyte RMA Process takes?

It an interesting thread that i have seen since i have been a member of this forum. PSU incompatible with Motherboard????? its quite strange.

Its quite clear that some of your component has a heating issue, it could be either your RAM, VRAM or proccy, these are the vital components which makes the system to restart without any notice.

Good that you are trying to change you motherboard, but i still cant relate how a PSU could detect a faulty motherboard???? you said Linux was working fine in your PC...

Sometimes Virus could cause the issue as well, do you have a proper antivirus in your system?

Did you drop any sharp pointed objects in your motherboard while swapping your new PSU? sometimes these could cause motherboard to malfunction.

do you get a BSOD before it restarts? Check what the error you get is.
Also, remove all the ram sticks you got and put just one and see if you still have the restart issue. Do the same with each ram stick. see if you can narrow down the issue that way. Do the same with the gfx card as well. See if the restart issue still persists with the gfx card removed. Cause I had the same issue, the pc would restart within 5 mins of logging in. i noticed that it only happens when the ram usage went beyond 50%. i hence removed the ram sticks n checked only to find out one of the ram sticks was partially dead. You might have the same issue.
Also see if your processor and board is compatible. I had that with my Intel board and Q6600 processor. Apparently the Q6600 i used didnt work on the board i had. But it worked fine and it suddenly stopped one day. n then Intel refused to replace it for me. So make sure that is fine too.

When did i say that i m using Linux? I said that my rig was working well when i was using gigabyte PSU...

Check the above posts i've posted my proccy temps... and according to me the temperature of my proccessor's in idle and in load condition is fine...

As far as the RAM and GPU are concerened, they were working fine when i was using gigabyte PSU...

RMAed the old mobo and got a new mobo... but the problem is still not gone...
Tested PSU in someone else's PSu and worked fine in his rig
Did memtest86+(v4.10) and didnt even get a single error
Only GPU is left to test....

Do u guys think that GPU may b the culprit?

turn on your PC. Enter BIOS and monitor temps. Check if it's stable or if it does the same even when in BIOS.

If it works fine there, also a probability of a virus infection since you say your PC restarts only when you try to logon

My computer doesnt have a single virus... did full system scan several times (Norton Internet Security 2011)... My computer doesnt restart when it is in BIOS... My computer only restarts when it is in windows or on the login page...
