First of all, your hdd has caution status that too with uncorrectable sector count so nothing you install on that drive will work as it should. Second, ssd always helps & is a must nowadays to run windows 10/11 & it helps everywhere not just fast startup & shutdown. Just get a cheap crucial BX500 240gb ssd for 1300 from onlyssd (sister website of primeabgb) & install linux mint on it. Everything will run smoothly incl your printer. Also get 4gb ddr3 ram from primeabgb & sell that 2gb ram stick if possible.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have already ordered the same SSD, a few days ago and is actually just waiting for its delivery. Also SSD I haven't included in my budget because even if the system doesn't work, the SSD can still be used elsewhere It is just the RAM and processor for which the budget I provided and I am confused which to pick up. I will look into this.

The G2030 build is marginally better than the E5400. However, both of them aren't going to be of much use considering 2c/2T they come with, if you try any kind of multitasking.
A modern smartphone will probably outperform both those PCs. So, in the grand scheme of things, throwing money on EOL hardware, Old RAM & New SSD without addressing the core issue (literally!) would be an exercise in futility.

IMO, you'd be better off getting a cheap i3 based Tiny/Mini/Micro USFF PC with 8GB of RAM and slap that new SSD you ordered for a usable build that will likely last a few years and handle basic home usage, browsing & printing tasks with ease. As for the old PCs, donate / recycle or sell them for parts, if you can to recoup some of the costs involved in the upgrade.

As I previously said this PC is just a temporary one to push through maybe a year or year and a half till we can get that reimbursement for a PC/Laptop next year. So, spending upwards of 6k now doesn't make any sense. As for the SSD, even if this PC fails, I have other systems where I can put it to good use and thus why I ordered it without taking much time. As for the PC, I did get a cheap 8GB stick to get it to 10GB RAM and installed Linux on it. It seems to be working fine as of now. Again, a browser is all my parents need for most of their work. The RAM cost me just under ₹600, it seems to be doing its job for now and hopefully for some time more
