Got a friend who killed his system with that sh1tty PSU so must agree here. I've tested it. It's a POS.

VX 450 a good suggestion. Unless you're buying Nehalem, get a dual core. E8400 / E8500.

Whats with the price cut? :S These're the recent prices.

And thats a godforsaken PSU which killed a lot of rigs here. Poor efficiency overall and is in fact a rebranded Seventeam 500W. Discussed to death here. :|

U should get a better PSU like the VX450. Retails for <4k in which case u could compromise for the enclosure. Get a Zebronics Bijli or the likes. ~ 1.1k w/o the PSU.

OP says he wont be OC'ing at all. I believe the E8500 is faster clock-to-clock and cheaper than the Q6600 in most apps (minus rendering :gap:).

1)Im with all the guys recommending a C2D over C2Q if you're not going to overclock.

2)New PSU.

this guy understand the game ....reps for him!!

Q6600 or Q9400 as many games are slowly starting to prefer quad cores :)

P.S. whatever you buy but just avoid all Asus P5N series ("rite" recommened one) motherboards as they do not support 45nm Quad Core Processors (Q8xxx & Q9xxx series)

actually u can run but u can not overclock good bcoz of shity 3 phase power design!!.....any ways that are end of line items..........i heard some guys running Q9450 on it!!

Since you will be working with photoshop aswell, Quad Core is the way to go.. get
Q9400 atleast, put it on Gigabyte P31S3L :)

What has P5N-E SLI got to do with this thread? :S

he recommended P5N-E SLI with Q9400 first so I said they do not support 45nm Quad Core Processors (Q8xxx & Q9xxx series) then he said they do then I posted a picture of the cpu support from the Asus support website :)

acc to that image it doesn't support E5200 either. So probably the Q9xxx's came out after that list.

are you a idiot or just ignoring the fact that you cannot use a Q8xxx or Q9xxx

went to NP....

E8400 - 8750

G31 - 3000

Transcend 800Mhz 2GB x 2 - 2300

CX 450 - 4000

CM 690 - 3800

These are the prices from SMC :(

Said did not have E8500 or Q9400....was giving the Gigabyte DSR3 for 8100 :(

Which G31 for 3k seems to be expensive...

Maybe go the Phenom II way.....Asus 780G + Phenom II 920

Why not consider buying from Te dealers ? I see all the price you mentioned are 100 or 2 are higher than than of Te dealers.. Also Amarbir quoted me 3.8 for VX450 :D

Damn those're certainly expensive. :(

Like Dark Star's suggested, shoot a PM to some of our dealers and get the best prices.

Like I said before, SMC offers good prices to peeps who frequent them. Did you check out Computer Empire? Those retards used to offer good prices sometimes.

expensive except rams...wt g31 board is it???..

Gigabyte G 31......

CE was giving Gigabyte G31 for 2350 >>

Processor @ the same price...

RAM at the same price...

did not have VX 450 or CM cabinets with him

I think you can bargain a lot with these SMC guys...atleast downstairs...goto 2-3 shops and go tell SMC you got a lower quote..tried it day before and it worked to some extent..

Also...they try and sell the MSI G31 boards a lot...so insist on the Gigabyte and he will most probably source it for you.

Ohh and please do yourself a favour and get yourself a VX450.
