PDA not recognised

My dad used his older O2 pda to sync data wiht his lappy...Now the new HTC cruise refuses to get detected on it , even with activesync running
All O2 drivers and software were removed and fresh install from the htc disc made but still nothing
Using it on another lappy on xp&vista worked fine

Any suggestions how to fix it?

I would suggest that after uninstalling all the drivers, you run registry cleaner and re-install the activsync, this might help
