Hey just got my new 720 BE and guess what it unlocks.....I have got it to show AMD Quadcore Phenom 2 BE 20 in everest 5.0, but does not show in cpuz. Anyhow, it even shows the same in CPUZ hardware temps, so I really dont know whats happening. Anyway heres a screenshot...:hap2:

Hosting it on image shack as I dont have any space left...any help from you guys will be great. Am just about to start orthos to see if it is stable. Batch: 0904

Awesome :) Congrats on the uncloked X3 :P Post a screenshot of Everest CPUID.. CPU-Z has lots of issue with AMD CPU :@

Do not forget to update us with benchmark of both triple core and quad core you got :P

Orthos 10 minute test at 3.4 Ghz stable. Will try higher. NB showing as 1600, is this ok?>

Just touched 3.6 Ghz, orthos stable for 10 minutes, with all four cores...man this chip is awesome.

Mods please move this thread to overclocking section. Thanks in advance.

Ok this is funny, its showing only 2 cores in task manager, everest cpuid and cpuz. But the bios and AOD as well as device manager shows 4 cores? AM I missing something here?

Ok solved it, now running 4 cores at 3.2 Ghz, would not post at 3.6, so will start from the bottom again, lets c how it goes. 3d mark vantage test shows 10000+ score for cpu as of now, compared to 5200 odd for my 6000+

Ok, now have it stable on all four clocks at 3.2Ghz, with OCCT 2 hours test. What next? My Hypertransport is set to auto and the NB is at 2000 Mhz, does this need to be changed. Right now only fiddled with the Multi. CPUZ below:

CPU-Z Validator 3.0

Thanks sir. Tried OCCT @ 3.4Ghz, but failed with a message that there is a problem in core #2. SO I guess thats the bummed core. Have reduced HT to 1000 Mhz.

Now would it make sense to put off this core and go back to an X3, or keep this on and run at 3.2-3.3 Ghz?

BTW am still able to go through 3dmark at 3.5, but OCCT fails at 3.4, have to try 3.3 now.

Am already at 1.4 v, anyway am trying OCCT at 3.3 Ghz, will keep you posted. lets c how it goes.

What abt my other question? Does it make more sense to OC the 3 cores or saty at 4?

Its the 4th core which is causing the problem, thats confirmed, but I would think that 4 cores at 3.3 would be better than 3 cores at say 3.8, what say?

You're right.. the 4 cores at 3.3GHz, atleast on paper, should have more processing power. And any app that can make use of 3 cores, can scale just as well with 4 cores.

y reducing HTT to 1GHz?

thats limit for HT1.0

kepp this chip closer to its rated HTT speed.

turn the 4th core off n try its limits.

then c how much it takes to be stable at 3.2GHz wid 3cores..

then match if it was same as what it took to run all 4 cores at 3.2GHz...gr8 if it matches...

good to see your 4th core unlocked...:) are you the first Te member to get 4th core unlocked?:ashamed:

i'm surprised to see darky sir giving suggestions for overclocking...:bleh:way to go..:hap2:

yup its the first one on TE. Least I have not seen any other thread. Biostar mobos finally finds itself in the spotlight in a good way.
