Hi, i have a PixelView PlayTV card( BT878).

I am trying view Dish TV on my PC as my TV set conked off.

Here is summary of my setup:

  • I have connected DishTV STB with TV with help of RCA cable(Red,Yellow & White). Yellow wire(for video) goes straight in Video-in of TV card. The TV card has only one jack labeled as Audio-in, so i tried inserting red & white cables alternatively. no luck
  • Video Quality is Good but there is no sound
  • I have connected Audio-out of TV tuner card to Line-in of my sound card with a loop back cable. speakers are connected to audio-jack of my PC's sound card.
  • Tried with Default PVR software from PixelView and Chris TV, perfect video but no sound
  • Checked Volume control in Control panel of PC, nothing is muted there

Now, I am totally confused, so need your expert suggestion.

The back panel of TV tuner:

Card:PV-BT878P

Os: Windows XP SP2

OnSound of MSI-K8mm-v

why not connect white and red rca through a 3.5mm male directly to your sound card in (lin in)...i've done the same with my BIG tv..it works fine....just select this line in as input in your tv tuner software..

How do i connect 2 cables(RED,white) into a single line-in jack?

Are u using Vista. If i do this, i keep getting the sound from Line-in continuously even while booting.
Do u have any such problems. :(

that sound problem is bit common.

instead of connecting the 3.5mm jack directly to soundcard... connect it to audio in on Tuner.

the use the AUX header on the Tuner to loop sound to the AUX input header on ur mobo/soundcard...(rather than directly looping externally)

this way u do not use the sound jack n that sound will be minimized or filtered while u dont use ur tuner..

u will also have to select approppriate sound source in the Tuner settings after having done this..

post back if any doubts..i will try to post some pics in that case..

by the way the AUX cable im talkin abt is the one we used to use for connecting CD-drive aux to mobo in the days of win98

i use dscaler....there is an option which lets the software to handle the operation of line in....so when the application is on line in is on...when appln is off its off...in any case if u want to listen to it u can go to sound panel and unmute it..

now i use coaxial cable out from my big tv box...so now i connect my line out

from Tuner card) to line in..no difference when using vista/XP...

Guys,

In my case, i have connected composite cables from Tata Sky STB to my Tuner Card and then looping the sound from AUX out on Tuner Card to Aux In on sound card.

I have used ASUS Tuner Card and Pinnacle Tuner card.

My Soundcard is Creative Audigy Gamers Edition.

Even if i don't install any software, even then i can hear the sound when the PC boots and it doesn't stop till i mute it or start Chris TV and then close it. the sound then stops. Then again while rebooting, the sound starts.

The problem happens on both tuner Cards and also if i use onboard audio. All of this happens only when using Vista or Win 7, not in XP.

I have been pissed off about this problem long back. I also posted a thread long back asking for help in TE but that didn't work.

Please help...:)

It would definitely work but everytime i have to go to volume control to the AUX in the volume panel and then mute it. Then everytime i start ChrisTV, unmute it and the mute it..If it is muting through PC if u are referring to.

It's pain in the ***. :P

However, i just mute the STB if u are referring to this... But this is just a temporary solution.

Okay, I found this thing.

it came with my Digi cam.

I used it but still not sound

Here is what i have done:

*Used a Video(Yellow) port of RCA cable to connect STB to Video-in of TV Tuner

*Used a RCA to 3.5mm Stereo convector to connect from STB to TV tuner's sound in

*Used a Loopback cable to connect Tuner card Audio-out to Line-in of Sound card.

The video quality is better than TV but no sound:(

Guys, even I have a PixelView TV Tuner Card and even I am facing a sound problem..

I have got a small wire with it which has 3.5mm input jacks on both sides..
Where do I connect its ends?? And where do I connect the speaker's wire??
Also, what should I choose in the TV Tuner's software for recording - LineIn or Microphone ??

Somebody help me out with this please ASAP..
