I've been having BSNL connection since 4 years but the service has never been so pathetic as it's now. The connections are dropping frequently. They don't care if I am doing timepass on YouTube/Chatting, Or in a middle of important conference. This is total height of tolerance. I have been watching dropping ADSL links in my dreams too. It's like a nightmare @-).

Since past 1 month I have been experiencing disturbances in telephone line earlier I thought it's fine, no big deal. But this problem starting to enter my nerves. And ruining my life, I have been chatting/video conferencing something very important and this connection disconnects. I find someone interesting on Chatroulette and it disconnects. Youtube video loads till climax and I'm watching with interest & it disconnects, Aaarrghhh! ~x(.

I tried complaining them to change for a line but they "claim" to change the line but I suspect they didn't :(.

Please someone, is this happening to you also? So that we both can commit suicide together.

BroadBand Plan: 750 UL+

PS : There's strange problem with my windows too. Sometimes when ADSL is stable and Internet is linked the windows behaves as if it's not connected to Internet. I can however browse in phone/notebook. Restarting fixes this problem but its real pain to restart every now and then, Loosing work etc. etc.

I am using Windows 7 x64 (primary) / Windows XP / Ubuntu.

Haven't faced (didnt got into situation) for Windows XP and Ubuntu, But in Windows 7 It's there.

My network configuration is like this >> LINE >> Modem >> Router ^^>> Wifi/PC

I will die because of this ISP :-<.

With net disconnected , just pick up the receiver ,don't dial any thing ,just hear , see if the line is clear ,there should be no static or noise in the line .If there is noise or static ,then line itself is not clear , the wires that connect at the pole or you place might be rusted .There will be white powdery thing to indicate rust type .Or it could be line problem at exchange itself.

It seems that BSNL is on a country wide drive to irritate its broadband customers! I am facing similar issues since the last 10 days. I have similar SNR and Line Attenuation numbers. It works in the day time, but from sharp 6PM, it starts dropping. I can get it to work by powering off the modem and powering it back on till about 10PM but from 10PM to 6AM, it refuses to work! To get it to work this much also, I have to remove the splitter, otherwise, it just does not work.

I have written to the GM and copied the letter to all officers in the BSNL office (30 copies) and I heard from them on Friday. They promised to fix this on Monday, i. e. tomorrow. The thing is that I have this issue every 2-3 months. When it happens, I am on the verge of a nervous breakdown, but suicide?? That's a new one :ohyeah:

If possible try to move to a better ISP(like..Airtel).

This way, you will be happy and also it will be like teaching these lazy idiots a lesson.

BTW, think abt Genelia b4 committing suicide :p

It seems the babus of BSNL are also monitoring my activities. As soon as I posted above, my line went down. :-S

Switching ISP is not an option for me as there is no other ISP other than BSNL or Tata Indicom here. Problem with Tata is that they have no UL plans. :(

Two years back BSNL sent me a bill of around 3 lacs for broadband usage. I kept asking for my usage details and they kept sending it in bits and pieces. I kept finding valid faults and they kept decreasing my bill. Now two years later they have come down to 10k. When they will reach 3.5k I will pay them coz thats what I actually owe them.

Moral of the story : BSNL folks are reasonable guys but they do get bored sometimes. Don't commit suicide and spoil their fun :P

For the pathetic service rendered by these ignorant BSNL pigs why are you committing suicide ?. Customers should make them commit suicide by moving to a better ISP like airtel.

hummm... i too face the problems at the times posted by SumitB seems like due to excessive usage its causing the problem .. also this is my 3rd time i am facing this problem in past year .i even dont have a splitter , line is directly connected with the modem . still no good . :(

PS : online gaming has been dream for me since months .. couldnt play any :( . pingtest results are also bad.

and yeah airtel isnt availeble here too so stuck with bsnl. some alternatives are there but dunno much abt them .. and yeah how's wireless networks ? (EVDO/3G)

From what I have heard, their wireless options suck at least in my city.

QFMFT. OP should strap on a kilo of RDX and HIV+ needles as shrapnel, go up to the CC Chachi and blow up the entire booth :@.
I would also have come along and we could have blown up the Billing Babu as well as the CC Chachi. But thankfully I have a new connection now.

My BSNL ADSL link was down for 6 full months last year.
I was away for 4-5 months, but when I returned, the ADSL link still wasn't on.

So I know just how desperate the OP is. It's almost as if these BSNL guys are on a mission to spoil your Internet experience.
As long as you are engaged in light surfing consisting of mainly forums and such, it will work perfectly. But the second you start going on a YouTube binge or even image heavy sites, they will either crap on your speeds or drop the ADSL link completely.

And believe me it's not paranoia, once or twice could be a coincidence. But every single ****ing time?

It's almost as if they appoint 1 Babu per subscriber whose entire job description is to **** with your connection.
Getting good pings and gaming online a lot these days are you? Well allow us to reroute your network all the way via halfway around the world.

**** these chuts!
I say go to their exchange daily and throw a brick into the nearest window with a note attached stating simply "FIX MY CONNECTION".
Don't leave any other details. They will either have to deal with a brick daily or start attending to every single complaint.

same story here, have been using bsnl bb without any problem for last 3 yrs, but now facing similar issues as u guys, frequent disconnection ,high pings lags etc...it started 1 month ago.

If the adsl light not lights up or if there is frequent disconnection one method i opt is to short the phone line for some seconds and connection magically works for several hours without any problem...try it!!

Its the problem with line as far as DSL connection drop goes. Tell them to change ur "Pairs from the vertical" or give u new pair at RLU and new port from the Exchange. As for Windows disconnection, is it XP? If it is then look below, maybe this will help

All you got to do is to close port 135 and 445. So here what you got to do:

How to close port 445

Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) by clicking Start menu, and then click the Run icon.

In the small box that Opens, type: regedit then click the OK button.

The Registry Editor will now have opened

Locate the following key in the registry:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBT\Param eters

In the right-hand side of the window find an option called TransportBindName.

Double click that value, and then delete the default value, thus giving it a blank value.

The you must now navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\OLE

You will see there is a String Value called: EnableDCOM

Set the value to: N (it should currently be Y)

Close the Registry Editor.

Shutdown and Restart your computer.

You could also disabled NETbios. But found that by disabling these two, my computer get back to normal without re-formatting my computer etc. Hope you can get rid of this faulting application svchost exe problem.

I have seen your line statistics and it has very high attenuation which results in disconnection. your line is already interleaved, i think BSNL already made changes to overcome disconnection. To solve this issue i recommend to check your phone line.

First make sure you have connected your BB setup to your main socket in the house and not to any extension socket, also make sure there is no joint on the line. One singe joint result in increase in attenuation of around 10-15db. Then try changing filter or splitter. Also i recommend to change your modem/router. Try with netgear/linksys, these router have good reputation of working on very low SNRs. If you are not able to buy new one, you can borrow from some one to test the line. Please post result if you do these changes.

i regularly face these kind of issues every time it rains here , dont know wat happens to bsnl lines , frequent link break ups , then the only solution ios to call the bsnl linemen and get it corrected from him , he clears the line and everything's honky dory again for some time :P

You are either incurably stupid or totally gone insane to even talk about committing suicide in such an offhand manner over something trivial like this. :no: If its meant to be some kind of joke or attention grabber, then its in very bad taste. Damn the net connection, You seriously need to get your brain fixed first.
