Hmm.. what's your age mate? Not passing a judgement on you, but watching the way how young college students ride bikes these days, your parents may not be blamed for saying that.

@ a2j -

It would have fetched more replies if you would have written a2z things related to the topic

i think you should just wait for some more time

meanwhile why not ask for an activa if you dont have one :)

No offense -- I am sure most of us here will understand what I am about to post as we all have, at some point in our life, gone through this phase not so very long ago. We all tend to think with the nether/lower regions of our body at this age. We also think that the whole wide world is wrong and we alone are correct about anything and everything. We've all had/still have that gung-ho attitude and damn the world and naysayers.I get it you are in your teens and would love to impress girls by riding this 250cc bike to college - FYJC/SYJC. But would you be able to handle a 250cc bike at this age? Will it be safe? I would recommend you turn 18 - get some practice with a lower end bike till you are 20-21. Outgrow your teenage self and replace it with a slightly more mature understanding of things and the world around you. Your parents have your safety and best interests at heart. Spend that money on computer parts and gadgets - that's safe bet - and some girls will be equally impressed with them. BTW Real women will pay you attention if you bring style/substance/personality/intelligence/humour along with you rather an impressive array of materialistic stuff you can show off and prattle about. Women think that's childish - those that don't - won't really stay with you forever. Stay safe and play it cool. Bide your time and wait for a couple of years -- amazing bikes, mind you proper two wheeler monsters are soon going to launch in the course of the next 2-3 years and your Honda CBR250 would be as outdated then as a Pentium 4 is today.

Get yourself a Hero Impulse or a Pulsar 135 LS. Both are light and powerful bikes and are easy to learn and master. Ride them and learn everything that is to learn about bikes. Looks and features don't even make up the tip of the iceberg, there's a lot of stuff to learn and then go and buy a good bike with your own savings or your own hard earned money. The satisfaction you will derive will be next to nothing!

BTW before anyone calls me uncle - I am just 25.

You need a bargaining chip, like good grades or quiting a bad habit :P

But yes, you are too young. Starting with sauch a bike would only lead to a bad road. Next time you wouldn't settle for anything less.

I dont know how much $$ you get per month but for maintaining a 250cc bike you should be ready to sacrifice many things (Movies, parties etc....) With the rise in petrol prices for every month .......... Also no one gets bike riding experience in a day it takes some time and atleast 2 accidents to get hold of it , cost of spare parts also is very high. The occasional maintenance costs (gear box, chain sprockets, brake shoe, engine oil, clutch plates the list goes on......) . IMO get a used bike and ride it to its death :) . Then you will know what to do and what not to do ,then you can decide which bike you want to go for...

thank you so much your advice is quite mature and really true :)

but two things i wanted to tell you is my cousin bro has a bullet 350cc and i drive it frequently i have driven r6 also and i rode a 220 when i was in 9th almost for the whole evening i trafficted areas and i got problem with neither they were just like any other vehicles :)

thnak you again

i have a dio :)

BTW man please can you hint me what else can i write??

^^That's good to hear that you've got experience in riding good bikes - but according to the law you are underage -- that may land you into a whole world of trouble.

I once rode a proper 650cc Ninja which belong to a friend in degree college. I was scared to death. I had very little experience riding bikes then. I rode it for about 500 meters and decided I wouldn't risk my life and more importantly dad's money if i fell off the bike. I handed it over to my friend. I have admired sports bikes from a distance since then.

I started driving two wheelers regularly at the age of 10 and at the age of 13 I was a regular and only driver of my home car...
by regular I mean regular guy and not the occasional fun time drives...
The bike through which I learned biking was Bullet 350

But neither of these facts make me mature enough to get a sports bike or car without any driving experience of them

Believe me or not (I m sure U wont believe us) U are under aged as well as too little to get this bike.
If you get it right now, I am pretty sure the first objectives will be -> Show Off -> Race with fellows ->Attain max speeds even without proper riding gear etc.
It is not your fault, the age is like that. Even I have done these things and had fatal accidents too. So not demoralizing etc, just helping you being protective against these fab things
Thats why people says that you might lack maturity at this time for the bike

Moreover, just wait for one or two year, exploit you dio most and you parents will take a pity on you and give u a sexy bike
Believe me.. Two years ago, my parents were thinking twice before getting me a 125cc bike.. I skipped it exploited activa and now I have a bullet :hap2:

BTW, I am just 19, FYI

Good words but your statements contradict each other to some extent.

@OP : I would suggest you get the driver's permit first. The very reason you are asking ideas from us is that you don't really feel the proper need to own a bike except for showoff purpose which obviously your parents wont approve of.And so you are not able to convince your parents.

I think you should wait till you turn 18 (By that I mean till you get MCWG License) ... Once your through, I dont think CBR250R would be bad choice for a first bike... Contrary to what ppl think, Bikes like CBR/P220/ZMA/R15 are better to learn riding since they are more stable, handles better and responds well to your input, provided you are sensible enough to know all the power you have on tap and dont rip like mad whenever you see open stretch of road... Your learning curve on these machines will be steep... All you have to do is be sensible... When I was 7teen yr old, I had Dio, then I got Pulsar 220 on my 18th birthday ... Trust me I learnt how to ride bike on my P220, and it was easy... Practiced riding it for a month at night inside my campus, most difficult thing was to master 1st gear, but you learn it eventually...
