PS: If you really want the best of horror and you're looking the Hollywood way..Damn! You are searching the wrong continent!:bleh:

Exactly!!!! When it comes to horror, asian movies(korean, japanese and even thai) are the best:ohyeah: :ohyeah:

Adding to to it: Ringu, Dark Water (The original Jap one), Shutter (Thai)

Even the hollywood remake of the movie ringu .i.e. " the ring" starring naomi watts was a good one.
If you want scary hollowood flicks, then check out the latest horror flick "Vacancy".Haven't seen it yet but the movie has been getting rave reviews. Also check out brit movie "descend"(one of the best horror flicks in the recent past).

Also check out Identity(this movie is like the next gen. version of psycho) and frailty. These aren't exactly horror movies but if you are a horror fan you would love them.

Dont know why, but i watched Gore Verbinski's The ring before Ringu and i still think, it is better than the original...saw the original recently....wasnt scared at all..plus the story seems to skip up on a lot of things..the hollywood version was better with the story development...

Btw,if u peeps have trouble finding the darkwater (jap version), try searching for 'Honogurai mizu no soko kara' which is the real name of the darkwater...i guess searching for 'darkwater' will turn up the hollywood version with jennifer connelly..which was way too slow and not at all as scary as the original..check the original..it'll give u the right creeps..:ohyeah:

Also check out Ju-on (original jap version)...quiet creepy and will definitely jump u out of ur couch a few times with its boo moments..:ohyeah: Again, the hollywood version, 'The grudge' sucked...wasnt even remotely as scary as the original...

I guess u meant, 'The Descent'...:P

Btw, it was aired on HBO yesterday..:ohyeah: Missed it.. but anyways, i dont wanna watch it on any tv channel..they just snip all those scary moments and then call it a horror movie..:P Yeah, maybe for under 13s..not for us..

As for Identity, it was a good 'slasher' type whodunit flick...:P and with the MPD twist..(oops..spoiler..:P) it had a good story...but it wudnt be right to call it horror..:hap5:

A piece of advice (unsolicited I know) to noone in particular but for all you horror fans and especially those who don't easily get scared (ya rite :P) :

The only way+time to watch a horror movie is late at night (1 am types), all alone with all lights shut and surround sound speakers ON (headphones for those who don't live alone)..
Do that...then and only then will you truly appreciate the movie, otherwise you're just wasting your time..

Warning: Do not try if you're weak at heart or have heart-related issues. Pls understand this is not a challenge of any sort, so don't take it that way!

Have fun...Cheers!

^^Lol..i did the same thing when i watched 'The Ring' for the first time..tht time i was in hostel...got the cd from a parlour..waited till every1 went to sleep..normally tht is like 3 am in the morning in hostels..:P i used to stay alone in my room.. turned the lights off..curled into my bed and watched it on my pc..and i need to confess tht by the time it was over and i had to go to the toilet thru the dark dormitory, i was feeling uneasy..the feeling as if tht li'l b**ch was staring at me from some where across the dark corridor...man, tht was the first time i was spooked after a long long time.. then after regaining some faith and prolly common sense, i went to the toilet..relieved myself and went for a cup of hot coffee downstairs..we had a canteen which used to stay open all night for all those sutta ppl..:P

Tht was one experience..i dont think 'The ring' was exactly scary..it wud be better to call it gloomy and ominous... I think tht in itself is more unsettling than all out scare..;)

If you do such things at an early age you will be scared for life.:bleh: :bleh: I remember watching an italian horror movie( can't remember which one) alone with all lights off when i was 13 or something. The end result,i am still scared of ghosts at night and i am 24 now.:P :P

28 days later is an excellent movie. It's massively underrated. Dload it and you won't be sorry.

Final destination series is pretty nice, so is the amityville horror .

Well..i seriously found 28 days later to be just about okay...am not very fond of zombie horror movies..they dont scare me much..i like more of the supernatural horror..they are more creepy than those extras in zombie movies wearing horrible make up to look like Frankenstein..:P

Saw amityville horror on st.movies a few days back..n how i regret watching the movie on it..they simply cut all boo moments..really, i'll never watch a horror movie on cable tv again..they suck..

^^Horror movies on cable is more like those PG13 movies for kids:D:D

28 days later was a decent movie.Even i don't like those zombie movies but it was one of the better ones. It's sequel is about to come:- 28 weeks later. BTW, did you like evil dead part 1??

Yeah, i laughed my a$$ off when i watched it the first time... My friend who actually called me over to watch it together, was so annoyed tht he vowed never to watch a horror movie with me again...:P

^^ You should have watched the prequel to evil dead --- -- it's called " Deep in the woods" ...It's even more funny.:D:D

BTW, i feel sorry for your friend.

Hell Yeah .... even we bought Evil Dead series with great expectations but throughout the movie me and my friends were laughing our ass off ..... it was especially funny coz all of us were really High , so it made the experience even funnier :P

You shud see Evil dead part 2..i think its the funniest of them all...especially the scene where the guy keeps slapping himself and then the severed hand actually laughs at him..crawling up and down the wall...haha..tht was hilarious...

I thought i saw that , also there was this one scene where some Head floats in the air laughing at the Hero .... I mean com'on , r we supposed to get scared ? :P Wonder how that film got such awesome reviews :S

Agree totally, the zombie movies are just excuses for gore movies, 'horror' is almost non existant. The exorcist, Shining, the ring, the grudge, dark water, one missed call etc will make you crap your pants if you are watching it alone, and it will stay in your head and dreams for a few nights.

^Actually it aint those poor guys at fault...they cudnt do much with the special effects technology then available to them...imho..even if we have better technology now, there arent many creative minds around to properly utilize 'em...going by the horror movies of recent times..only a few live up to the task of scaring the $hit out of ppl..even our bollywood peeps have access to better technology than 90s hollywood flicks..but look at what they make in the name of horror..movies like vastushastra, naina, darna mana hai/zaroori hai..:P  For god sake please..spare us...:hap5:
