Site Name: AlphaOmega (http://www.alphaomega.me)

Signup URL: Register :: AlphaOmega

In case you still aren’t a member of AO, registrations are currently open. However, keep in mind that the site will become invite only from 1st of January 2011 onwards.

AlphaOmega (AO) is one private torrent tracker that’s been making news lately. This new Gazelle based general tracker appears to have come a long way within a very short period of time. In our previous article about this site, we mentioned that AO had the basics covered with good pre times, seedbox hosted torrents, fast download speeds and tons of new daily uploads. If those were not enough for you, a slew of new changes and additions were recently announced by staff. Most notable of these changes is the switch to a ratio free model – yes, the site no longer enforces global upload : download ratio requirements upon its members. But that’s not all, there’s even more good news, especially for movie fans. AO has spiced up its movie download offerings by adding over 250 DVDRip movie Boxset packs to its torrent index. In addition, they have teamed up with P2P release group Rx who are known for their BRRip encodes.
First, the biggest news of all; the ratio free system. AlphaOmega is now a no ratio general tracker similar to GFT, TDS, Thorbits, etc. An official announcement about the move was made in the site’s forums (quoted below) – this pretty much explains how the whole system works. Pay attention to the revised rules to avoid hit and runs.
ALPHAOMEGA IS GOING RATIO FREE
What does this mean?
Simply? AO is no longer based on the 1:1 Ratio System you have all come to live with. We are now basing our site simply on seed times.
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE RULES?
The new rules are simple. We have a thing called a Hit & Run system. This means that if you download a torrent, and don't seed for 72 hours out of 168 hours (3 days out 7) that you will get a warning. AO will give you the opportunity to reseed it again after that. If you have more then 3 infractions a month, you're account will get disabled.
What happens about promotions?
Well, this is the easy part. We're increasing the amount of upload you need for promotion, but removing anything to do with ratio requirements. So, instead of needing a 1.05 Ratio to be promoted, you'll just need to have a certain upload requirement and time on site. It's all pretty easy now.
Is this forever?
We're trying something new to help the general user base out. We are trying to make a really nice, and easy site for everyone to use. If this doesn't work out, we have other ideas to try too. But for now, we'll just say it is under a 3 month trial. If everyone plays nice and we get a good flow going, then yeah, we'll keep this system up and running.
When will this system be up and running?
That's the funny part, you've all actually been using it for the last month! Yes, freeleech was just a hidden way of testing the system out. It all has been working very well until now actually. So, we've implemented it. As you'll notice your Download counter is now gone. Same with the Ratio Requirements. Clever right?
Final Notes
We've been trying to get this site feeling right and looking right. We've hit over 6000 active users and 7000 registrations. We're very happy with the way the site has taken off. As of the 1st Jan the site will be on an invite only basis. Plus, there will be a lot of new changes coming! So, just keep your eyes on the AO Announcement Forum and we'll be explaining the rest as they come!
Ratio changes aside, AO has focused a lot on expanding its torrent index – and that’s not by adding thousands of spam torrents. Instead of adding individual torrents for each and every scene 0Day release, separate daily packs will be released combining all 0Day releases and MP3 releases within a particular day into them (this is a common practice employed by sites like TorrentLeech). In addition, AO recently added over 200 movie boxsets (including SD and HD quality) to its index – the site now tracks around 300 packs which is a great achievement for a start up general tracker. That’s not all, AlphaOmega recently affiliated with the P2P movie release group Rx who are best known for their Blu Ray Rip encodes.

still can't get the torrentleech signup to work , anywhoo , here's an interesting site ChangeDetection - Know when any web page changes ... what i do is put up the signup page as the url to observe and when the invitation code tab gets removed it shoots a mail to my id and i simply signup for free. now this is not a 100% but works most of the times :)

edit: for the torrentleech invite code , use it in smalls - happy2011 :D

Site Name: CopyThatFloppy (https://ssl.copythatfloppy.org)

Signup URL: https://ssl.copythatfloppy.org/register.php?lang=

Registrations for CTF are currently open. There are around 2500 free slots up for the taking so get in while you can.

It’s a brand new year and here’s news of a brand new private tracker. It’s not everyday you see the launch of a BitTorrent site specializing in software. CopyThatFloppy (CTF) joins the limited number of appz trackers out there alongside the likes of Appz Bitshock and AppzUniverse. After being in beta for about a month, CTF launched to the public a couple of days ago on 31 December 2010. Based on the Gazelle codebase, this is probably the only new software tracker to hit the BitTorrent scene in 2010. CTF tracks all sorts of applications for Windows, Linux, Apple Mac and other operating systems including mobile platforms such as iOS and Android. Don’t expect to find movies or games here as this tracker is all about software and software only. If you are interested in becoming a member, registrations are currently open.
As of right now, there isn’t a lot of content indexed on CTF. At the time of posting there were only around 25 torrents uploaded to the tracker. However, keep in mind that this site is only 2 days old. Since there are a lot of 0Day Appz releases pre’d by scene groups on a daily basis, CTF most likely will not face a shortage of torrents if they manage to index even half of these releases.
Note that the content on CopyThatFloppy is not limited to Windows software. There are a number of Mac and Linux applications uploaded and the predefined categories list suggests that tracker staff have plans to upload iOS and Android applications as well. All torrents are categorized and tagged for easy searching. Some of the available apps are free software and some are pirated material that come with key generators and cracks. In addition to torrents, there is a separate section for text based tutorials and tech guides.

Site Name: MagicProp (MagicProp.com V1.1 :: Login)

Signup URL: MagicProp.com V1.1 :: Signup (The ‘Invite Code’ field is optional. You can leave it blank and continue the signup)

As mentioned earlier, MagicProp is currently open for signup. We are told that open registrations would continue until the user limit hits 1000 members – this leaves around 700 more free spots up for the taking.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – specialized magic torrent trackers are some of the hardest private trackers to get into. MagicTorrents, the last such tracker to be featured on this blog, actually required users to have a professional knowledge of magic. This is of course a fair practice if you see it from tracker staffs’ perceptive - most of these sites are built with the focus of sharing material between magicians so a member without any knowledge on the field would not do much good to the community. But if you are an amateur at magic or if you are a student planning to learn this wonderful art, here’s a magic tracker that currently has open signups. MagicProp is the newest magic torrent site on the block and open registrations would continue until the user count reaches 1000.
MagicProp is branded as a completely new tracker but it seems to be connected to AOMK (AOM Killer – another magic tracker) in some way. Numerous news posts and torrent comments found on MagicProp have references to AOMK and even the forum avatar image of MagicProp owner has the text “AOMK Owner”. This weird connection aside, MP appears to be a decent magic tracker which is around 1 month old. At time of this posting, there were around 650 active torrents indexed on MP and it had a registered user base of 300 members.
Most of the torrents indexed on MagicProp can be downloaded by anyone including new members. However, there is a trader/VIP section which does have some restrictions – files listed under this section can only be downloaded if you upload something to MagicProp first (or if you are a VIP). As said earlier, this is a specialized magic tracker – you can find video, audio and ebooks related to a wide array of magic related subjects such as Balloon, Face Painting, Fire Eating, Hypnosis, Juggling, Packet Tricks, Pick Pocketing, Prosthetics , Scripts N Patter and many more.

Site Name: MP3Scene (mp3scene.org - Login)

Signup URL: mp3scene.org - Signup

Registrations for MP3Scene are currently open. It’s not known whether open signups would be closed anytime soon. Either way this looks like a promising new entrant to the MP3 trackers scene so go ahead and check it out.

When it comes to scene music torrent trackers, SoftMP3 was nothing short of a legend. Back in its day, the site was hugely popular in the BitTorrent community and had pretty high demand from music fans across the world. However, SoftMP3 voluntarily shut down citing safety reasons after the Pirate bay court verdict back in 2009. Source code of the site was released to the public and naturally, a flurry of replacements and clones followed the demise of this once great tracker. Unfortunately none of the new alternatives were as successful as SoftMP3 and most had shut down for good by 2011. Today’s article is about MP3Scene – the newest MP3 music torrent tracker to be running on SoftMP3 source. Despite the bad luck surrounding torrent sites based on this script, MP3Scene is off to a fine start and is adding new torrents at a rapid pace.
Within just a week into its public launch, MP3Scene’s statistics are looking pretty good. The site has so far managed to recruit over 1600 members through open registrations and this number is expected to increase as this tracker gains more exposure. Number of active torrents which was just around 100 a couple of days ago has increased rapidly to 2000, with over 1000 torrents being added in the last two days alone – if MP3Scene uploaders can keep this pace up in the long run, this tracker is definitely going to be a win. With the planned launch of autouploader bot (which according to the SysOP should arrive sometime this weekend), frequency and speed at which new torrents are added might even see further improvements. While the start has definitely been good for MP3Scene, let’s hope this tracker won’t suffer the same fate as previous SoftMP3 source based sites such as SceneSound or CareStreet.
As its name suggests, MP3Scene is a music torrent tracker specializing in scene released MP3 music albums. Indexed music is organized into 40+ different genres including Rock, Pop, Indie, Punk, Jazz and more. In addition to MP3 files which form the majority of torrent index, this site tracks some MDVDR and Lossless music files as well. Just like SoftMP3, MP3Scene uses multiple torrent index pages as opposed to a single main index found on most other torrent sites. There are separate browse pages each for new releases, archived releases, requests and lossless music
Being built on the same source base, ex members of SoftMP3, SceneSound or CareStreet trackers should feel right at home here. While there are minor changes made to the layout, favorite SoftMP3 features such as the archive section, lossless music section, customizable start page, easy to read FAQ and rules presentation, toplists and requests have all been retained.
