well its simple guys..........

1. Raj Thackreys profession is politics and aim is to become the chief minister of Maharashtra (beyond Maharashtra he doesn't have scope because of obvious reasons)

2. To win he needs votes.

3. Most voters belong to lower socio-economic groups. They comprise of a large number of localites i.e. Maharashtrians. Every state has their share of localites who are poor and mostly belong to the lower castes. Rest is comprised of people from other states since Mumbai is highly cosmopolitian and a land of opportunities. Most people of other states do not have voting rights are they are immigrants or do not fulfill the basic eligibility of voting in that particular area.

So who are left ? The localities.

Thats why Raj is bang on in his strategy.

Most poor dont have opportunities and the extreme poverty brings in frustration. Frustration, gives way to getting easily provoked and not having a sound reasoning ability.

So he is playing his cards well.

But the real rationale is:

People come to a place to make a career, a better life or maybe just to make a living. People dont come to Mumbai because they want to snatch jobs away from Maharashtrians. They come to Mumbai because they feel they can make it big here, the city of dreams, some come here so that they can send money back home, to an otherwise starving family.

Why do we Indians go to the US.....to increase the strength of the Indian community ? we go there because there are more opportunities.....to get better in life.....and so is the case with everyone.....be it poor or the rich.......everyone wants to do better for themselves....

.....including Mr. Raj Thackrey...too bad his ways cause grief to others....who are afterall his own countrymen and above all humans.

How long will that remain the case if this guy goes places ?

The other odd thing is why does he cling to an English surname when all he really wants to show is how much a 'son of the soil' he is. Maybe you are right, his electorate are not able to tell that from Thakur if it came to it.
