Note::My point here is to just highlight raj double standard personal policy thats it.....

There are always two sides to a coin...

Regional languages should be optional and not complusory....

nice article, i must admit that my "education" couldn't get me anywhere, however, it was my English that got me a job.

^ agreed . All this forcing of languages needs to stop . Few days back, i was sitting in kharghar with few of my friends and all of a sudden 40-50 people came with stones in hand and broke the board/glasses of CROSS cafe ( Hitler's cross before ) . I am not sure but someone told me it was because they didn't have sign board in Marathi . Domino's on other hand of the road pulled the shutters quickly . If this shit continues, next it would be car number plates, door name plates,etc.,etc. Spreading awareness is important .

Booo! For all those people who were thinking india is a free country......;)

We can't even choose our language.

So how many of you here like me whose overall grades in school & college went down only cuz of those two compulsory languages ?

Thats the point......By rather being mere spectator its better to b aware and cast your vote though u know it least matter...but making 10 voters aware....it will certainly make a difference somewhere down the line

I dont know why dont these ppl throw away all the money in their pocket as the notes too r in English...

I'm not sure which sector you are referring to here, export one maybe ?

But otherwise would you have said the same thing ?

I take it this is so far only a Marathi thing ?

That 'Raj' character has to work hard for his pay.

Last we had that 'Northie-go-home' campaign, now its signboards, ah well at least the signs & boards industry must be doing a roaring business :D.

What i dont understand is that who are these freaks to dictate such terms..If they form a group and come, people around them should man up, make a larger group and beat their asses till they piss in their pants..
That wil get the idiots to behave properly..
All this drama is just for getting attention..

Action speaks louder than words.

...except in sarkar 'RAJ's case :)

the man is adept in the american style of mgmt, DO as i say and not as i DO.

Just an observation and absolutely no offense intended towards anyone or their beliefs :D

As a non-Indian... I find it interesting that you are all debating this in English.. I think people should always have the right to choose.

Another fine example of this type of situation is the french vs english language in Quebec Canada. Now Quebec is run by a french gvt and their economy since separation has not been doing so well since a lot of the English speaking biz people have moved away because of all the strife and taken their money with them.

That's the ugly truth these ppl refuse to acknowledge. We could use Hindi but then not everyone is conversant in it. So enter the neutral foreign language and all the probs go away.

Think of this language spat like something the French Academy tried with the english language, replaced all 'borrowed' englishwords with longer french ones

..cept a little more severe, they will destroy your business storefront if you don't comply. There does not appear to be any choice in the matter.

I've never understood how the govt. was somehow unable to prevent any of this vandalism.

It would seem the current wisdom is...

cheaper to appease than confront

no matter the community.
