Tell me an Indian company that manufactures mobiles. i am not talking about the assembly plant. Nokia - Finland, Apple- US, Sammy - Korea, LG- Korea, Sharp - Japan. All micromax, Maxx, Videocon are rebranded chinese.

prices have been upped on current flag ship samsung devices. s3 and note 2 have been upped by 1.5k .Looks like its due to 6% tax proposed in budget?

Govt is trying to curb the CAD. Without which India risks becoming the first of the BRICs to get relegated to junk status by the rating agencies. You are concentrating on just one aspect, try to look at the big picture.

Corrupt govt ? pls every govt is corrupt because we have to fund our democracy.

Democracy does not come for cheap.

If anything i would be in favour of legalising 'corruption' like in the US so we can get on with our lives. A good start would be to increase the money a candidate can legally raise to stand for office ie elections funding reform. It costs too much but the govt will not let you raise that money legally so the balance is what is known as 'corruption'. Real simple.

You did not mention WHICH is the pertinent notification in there. After going through quite a few it seems to be notification 6/2013

6/2013 – CE Seeks to rescind notification No. 20/2011- CE, dated the 24th March, 2011 relating
to 1% excise duty on Mobile handsets including Cellular phones.

How it goes from 1% to 6% is not clear.

Wow big difference for just color, I never saw the red in the physical shops anywhere. Just white and some bluish thing.
Do people cover the phone with a protective casing or most use it just like that ?
