Ricoh printers are refillable and Ricoh officially sells the refill toner. I just bought Ricoh SP 200 for 3.5 K.
Thanks for the info...are they secured by chip or are they chip less..and how much does an official cartridge cost..I'm interested in purchasing the sp210su model MFD and should I go ahead with the purchase.. And any idea about the availability of spares of Ricoh??

SP200 does not require a chip. The chip costs around 300-400 Rs (if required). The toner sold by ricoh cost 400Rs. Generic toner powders shall cost 150-200 Rs.

BTW your local toner refill guy will be the best person to give you all info about refill about particular printer.

In my office lots of Ricoh MFPs are in use. They are under AMC though. No problem faced till now. Don't know about spare availability in the open market.

My printing requirement is very low. Hardly 30-40 pages in a month. So I went for the cheapest printer. If you need a workhorse HP 1020/1005 as mentioned above is the best buy.

There is Brother printer available in 4K range also. Don't know about this particular model.

I have ordered the Ricoh sp210 su from snap deal.. Since I too don't print much max 30 pages per month..I found it too good a deal at 5900 for a MFD..

My SP210SU finally ran out of toner that it initially came with.

Approximately, I got through 1100-1200 pages with that. This includes around 35% photocopying and virtually all the printing with toner saving mode turned 'ON'.

As per the article linked by @blr_p, where the industry standard for cartridge life is measured as per 5% coverage area of the paper, mine was just about right. My prints are for labels and I would put the coverage area at roughly 10% - 12%.

I had bought the high-yield refill from Ricoh website which the company claims would last 2,600 pages. Let's see how many I get this time around.

My friend, on his SP210SU, has already crossed the 3.5K print/photocopies. He too is currently on his first refill albeit bought from a local printer guy for 400 bucks. I got mine from Ricoh site for 600 INR. His came in official Ricoh packaging as well. Will switch to that one for my next refill considering the cost difference.

I am using an HP 1515 inkjet color Printer(+Scanner+Copier) which I bought from Amazon for about 3.8K, (was available for 2.4k a while back on lightning deal)
The print quality is great but the Bundled cartridges ran out quite fast.
A new HP 678 Black/Color cartridge costs about 500-550 online and holds about 10ml of ink.
Whereas the replacement good quality Black ink is available on ebay for Rs.199 for 115ml. (about 10 refills)

The first refilling took a bit of time(1 Hour!) as I was super cautious and kept re-reading instructions (suction tool, head cleaning and stuff),
but now I can do it in 2-3 minutes flat.
There is no discernible difference in print quality at all.

The color ink trio + Black are available for Rs.650 (4x115ml)

another advantage with this printer is that the print heads are not integrated on the main printer but on the cartridges itself.
If any print head is damaged, you just need buy a genuine cartridge for the corresponding head and continue.
