Programs you watch on Indian Television

Hmm, forgot to mention, I sometimes watch those shitty Indian reality shows, right, twice or thrice a year, because I like to go tasteless once or twice, and it's a better replacement than porn I believe. Don't know what the hell is wrong with people by calling English channels 'cool' (I find their idiocy level is lesser than ours, at least on the TV programmes) but what you see you see, do you talk about it with anyone else? So how come the 'cool' factor taking effect? A nuisance point if you ask me.
Well loads of people liked Chennai Express, while I wanted to pee on the screen, what can you do :|

Welcome to Goa Singham !! :p

Telugu News Channels - ABN , CVR .
Telugu Music channels - whichever is playing good music
English Movie Channels - whichever is playing a good movie
and
Romedy Now
VH1
9XO

I used to watch re-runs of Byomkesh Bakshi and some 90s era serials on a Doordarshan channel. Never got to watch all the episodes when I was little because of strict house rules regarding TV. Now I am the ruler of the house :p

I don't watch anything regularly. News and sports are a given. Likewise, Animal Planet, Discovery and History Channel when in the mood for some nature. Sometimes I watch food or travel shows.

Rarely, I also watch some random cartoon.

Comedy Nights
Bigg Boss (have to sometimes since my sister and mom are avid followers)
Masterchef Australia - love it
Headlines Today and other news channels just to keep up with the latest
Nat Geo and Discovery Channel - occasionally.

Though the list is big, but I rarely watch more than 3-4 hours in a week. Feel like an idiot if I sit in front of it watching cable for too long

So no one watch or Forced to watch that sas bahu daily soaps? I mean how is that possible?

LOL. Exactly my thought.
I am dragged into one 'saas bahu' serial in our local channel (Assamese channel). Most of the times, as the schedule coincide with our dinner timing.

Only now have started to watch TV again.

*Plus = Mahabharat.
Zee Cafe = Poirot.

Otherwise it just runs in the background.

Poirot - is it the same Agatha Christie Poirot? Timings in Zee cafe?

People here seem to avoid watching the saas-bahu with their wives / moms because they may fear getting addicted to them :p
Whenever I go to my uncle's home, they usually watch these saas bahu serials one after other non stop. Ugh. I read the paper or if it becomes unbearable I say bye and leave for home.
Retarded serials. Someones always crying or planning to make others cry. Plus the 3 second zooms on heavily painted faces of everyone in the scene, gives me nightmares.

I haven't renewed my DTH connection as I don't watch much 'Indian' TV and the great web is my source for all things 'Western'. I however enjoy certain programming on Indian TV when I am at my friend's house:

Best of luck, Nikki
Comedy Nights with Kapil
Crime Patrol
Fear Files

The worst is:
Mind thoughts translated to voice-over dialogues. The character is thinking something, and the voice over "says" it. Usually full-blown dialogue sequences are carried out in this manner. The actors look like demented versions of the hero from Kubriks' 'Orange. It took me 4-5 minutes to figure out WTF was happening. LOOOOL.

SAB TV - Tarak mehta ka ulta chasma.
Life OK - Savdhaan India
Sony - Crime Patrol
Colours - Bigg Boss,Comedy Nights with Kapil.

Have you watched B.R Chopra's Mahabharata which first aired 2 decades ago on Doordarshan ?

Of course. All of it. It was one of the breakfast staples for Sundays. Then He-Man, Spider Man, and the evening movie. We all waited for. Also the Star Trek runs, before Mahabharata came around...! The streets / colonies used to be isolated. Only KBC has had this maniacal following.
