Programs you watch on Indian Television

I try to watch something anything but all I land up watching is ads. Every channel I switch to is busy showing ads. Ads are shown to the extent that you find something interesting and suddenly they start showing ads you start channel surfing and keep coming back every now & then to see if the show has resumed but you are greeted with ads after a while you forget about it.

Horrible shows + lengthy ads + stupid news channels who keep stretching a single issue & retell the same fact in 10+ sentences make the modern day huge hd televisions with ht systems & hd set top boxes inferior to the 80s to 90s simple boxy televisions with color or without equipped with just an antenna.

But its played every time I turn on the T.V.

I actually stopped watching Indian T.V 4 years back the only time i watch T.V is when I'm having lunch or dinner.

I havent watched TV in ~8-10 but i occasionally sit down for 10-15 mins when the family is watching to see what sh*t they are being subjected to.
Some days back i saw Big Boss for 10 mins, they were constantly quarreling and i couldn't figure out the reason. Even KBC has turned into some sort of masala reality show where they highlight people's difficult lives with dramatic music, iirc there was also a dance number at the end of an episode.

Yes. As if there is some competition to turn the shows into crappy masala entertainment.
First 3 seasons of KBC were much better. And had certain dignity where the personal lives of contestants were discussed briefly.
Yes, I know latter 2 were hosted by Shahrukh Khan. And even though I don't like him as an actor (with certain exceptions of course), he has a charm and a sense of humor which was nice to watch on KBC

I also feel that the general knowledge format of KBC is gone long back, and the questions asked in later stages tend to be biased towards contestants profession or hobbies. I may be wrong though as I have given up watching TV.

I never thought of it, but subconsciously i think i gave up TV because of the ads. Its really frustrating to sit through dumb ads waiting for your program to resume. Glad i can just stream whatever series/movie i want through internet.
 
Lol i remember those XX movies on cable 10 years back. Did anyone else have those Russian channels MEGA, Ren TV and TB6 Mockba ?
I also remember most of their commercials were for beer brands.

The problem is that is not the legal way to watch the show/movie but it makes perfect sense to the sane person who after paying for a movie is made to sit and watch ads in a theater and wait for the movie's delayed start or after paying the DTH/CAS charges is made to watch ads to wait for the show to start or resume.

Not to mention the stupid amount of censorship. There is censorship on TV there is censorship in the theater. DTH/CAS they were supposed was supposed to fix the problem, you pay for the content you want to watch. You want to watch movies you pay for that, you want to watch sports you pay for that, you want to watch porn hallelujah you pay for that and we are (not porn) but we are paying for the channels that we specifically want to watch and are aware of the sort of content you want to watch on them then why implement the stupid censorship. The problem is even worse in a theater. I remember Fast and Furious 6 - They are comfortable showing you a near naked woman but attack the words like 'F**k' & 'S**t' throughout the movie. There is an 'A' rating for the movie then why the stupid censorship?

You want to see the movie or a show without the stupid ads or censorship - Download. Now that is deemed illegal but the people who are broadcasting shows, the censor board, the theater owners etc., are the real criminals who are not giving us our money's worth.

The only good thing I can say about the Radio is - It's free. Not worth listening to though.

Yes, advertisements and horizontal/vertical tickers what turned TV off -forever. So annoying.
 
there are vertical / corner banners all over the TV screen too which is annoying.
BTW i like what the TV regulator in china has done.
everything is free.
Even Star network is broadcasted FOC in china.
so just align you r satellite receiver to receive the star channels from china and viola , you have free cable for life.
( i suppose the older days cable tv operators did that too). they used to broadcast channels from as far as South africa if some pay channel was demanding a ransom to provide their channel.
 
@prabs : Well, if it's about censorship then why the frak the Hindi movies aren't included in that system? However I have minimal interest in them but still I have heard words which are literally worse than 'f' and especially the 's' word. Nice, our kids are getting educated by this modesty, a high social life they'll live because of this, it's just that we are ranking third in rape :)

When cable had just begun, star, Sony etc used to air really good local and foreign programs.

Now quality of Hindi programs seems to have become really bad with production houses trying for longest running time rather than story or quality.

We should go back to DD days where a series was allowed just 20 or so episodes of telecast instead of the 1000+ depressing episodes being allowed now.

Those were days.I some saturday used to unk school just to watch tv at 2 pm.
Such were the quality those days.Recently there was a repeat of old 80 series ":TAMAS' on history tv.
If one watch that in present circumstances still shiver runs down the belly such was the content and quality of the series and acting.
There were so many programs...Dekh Bhai Dekh,Zabaan Sambhal KA,AA bail Mujha MAAR,Nukkad,Hum Panchi ek daal ka, Udaan,yeh jo hain zindagi,kabhi yeh kabhi woh,ek doon teen chaar.and man more based college life polticis like chunati and many more.Even duck tales and talespin.
I feel SHanti the biggest sitcom being hit worsen the content quality as people started thinking they can milk even a dead cow.
Couple of years back i tried very hard and had collected some serials but than hard disc crash and it all went in oblivion.
Right now only meaningfull stuff comes on history tv.(i watch in hindi).
I watch pawn stars,baggage battles,gold rush and some more similar type content on it .Also used to watched banged up or jailed abroad.ANd yes even Dastak is quite good.

I enjoy the ads - well some of them.
Since I cannot escape from it, and changing the channels isn't an option most of the times (as I forget what was I watching most of the times :P).
For me 10% adv time is acceptable.

And there are some very well made ad too - like that Tanishq wedding, old Amir Khan's Coke ads, old Fevicol ads etc etc.
But few ads like bikini clad girl coming out of sea for a cement ad, Katrina doing kamasutra pose for mango juice ad - these really make the whole thing unbearable.
