Ps3 40gb RMA

I recently bought a 40gb gt5 Prologue bundle from reliance digital (With warranty 22.5k) and i have not been able to play any game on it except for gt5. I've tried GtaIV and burnout paradise and they both freeze 10 minutes into the game. Have also tried the 2.30 firmware upgrade and the patch released for Gta iv but nothing works. Today i tried these games on 3 different consoles, A friend's 40gb , another friends 60gb and the reliance digital store's 40gb display console. They all worked perfectly fine with no freezing issues or crashes. I'm completely losing it now.... :@ after spending all my savings on the console and games i have just got more frustrated day by day and have finally decided to RMA this crapped out unit i bought. :( I have more appreciation for my pc now which hasn't crapped out on me even once...despite me fiddling with it all the time.

Now coming to the questions i have:

What's the time period and procedure of RMA for PS3 in india.

Which is the flagship service centre out of these in delhi

Has anyone else had to RMA his/her 40gb ps3 ?

Will i get a repaired or a new piece ?

Do i need to give the gta:5 prologue game with the ps3 since it came as a bundle ? Well i can't as i exchanged it with gtaIV...:S

Over heating? I think you should have the store manager give you a brand new piece since its defective since beginning?
 
Nope it ain't overheating , the fans spins at a low rpm and it's kept in a well ventilated place. I asked the reliance digital store manager and he said that i should contact the authorized service center as they won't be able to help me in getting it replaced. After much argument the senior manager said that correct troubleshooting of the problem was required for a replacement to be sanctioned and that could only be done in a service centre....!?!
 
well i too recently bought the ps3 40gb gt5 bundle. my ps3 stopped reading discs after 3 days. it dint read game, movies, cd etc. spin of death in 3 days.

i then called the toll free number from the warranty card. got the number for the service center in mumbai. gave it for replacement on monday. after calling them several times & troubling them i got my replacement on friday. it took time according to them as they dont keep stock in mumbai & they get it from the head office in delhi.
 
In my case it took a bit more than a month to give me a replacement unit (after threatening them with legal action)
 
Wow. Things are not so hunky dory in ps3 land.. hmmm, I don't think I am going to get the ps3 from abroad then. I'll stick to PC.
 
^^ And they say the Xbox 360 is a faulty console ! Seems the PS3 has its own share of problems as well.

Anyways that said I hope you get your PS3 replaced ASAP and you start enjoying console gaming again.
 
Crap! This is scary stuff.Now even the 40GIG model seems to be plauged with this issue.Can we ever have a stable "next-gen" console? :(

Keep this thread updated so atleast we all know how the RMA experience works out.

well lets hope that the revised ps3 with 65nm rsx which is rumored to be launched around august be true.
 
was planning to buy a ps3 from the grey market,but looking at the problems faced will definetly opt for a one with warranty

better to buy in croma and opt for the extended warranty option.

Hope is all that we are surviving on.I was looking forward to purchasing the PS3 given it's less hardware failure rate but it all seems like a big gamble now.:S

If this is a more frequent issue then I reckon the 1 year warranty just won't cut it.:no:
 
How old is it? ? if its less than a week then the store has to replace it with a new one from their stock.
 
Called the toll free service centre number , they said it will be replaced within 3-days if there is a genuine defect in the console.The representative on the phone knew about the problem and asked me to disable PSN and try again...:huh: It seems i'm not the only one having these problems..:no:
I will be going to the lajpat nagar head office/service centre tomorrow so let's wait and watch.

no it doesnt matter. they wont replace it. u need to get it done through the sony service center. mine was 3 days old.

The WII is Stable, and so called "nex gen" as well
