Now we've seen our share of fake PS3 news before and this one looks too good to be true. According to a post from Belzar.com, they are now on the verge of releasing the worlds first full-fledged direct boot modchip for the PS3 that is packed full of useful features including multi-region DVD and blu-ray movie playback.

Some of the features of Belzar PS3 Modchip includes:

* Works on all PS3 models
* Works on all PS3 regions (USA, JAP, PAL,)
* Direct Boot of PS3 original, import, and backup (copied) games
* Direct Boot of PS2 original, import, and backup (copied) games
* Supports multi-region Blueray Movie Playback
* Supports multi-region DVD Movie Playback
* No config disc needed - it just works!
* Transparent stealth operation
* Integrates proven belzar Intelligent Code Modifying System
* No awkward USB interface - just insert DVD and play!
* Supportsall upto date titles
* Ultra-low power consumption; does not interfere with normal PS3 operation
* Only 12 wires to solder
* No external PC/laptop needed
* completely upgradeable firmware, via Belzars usb 2.0 interface

Furthermore, the team posted on their site that they have already sent out the second beta of Belzar PS3 Modchip to 50 beta testers for final bug testing. Well, what do you think guys? Is this real or not? Stay tuned.

Dude , why do people brag so much about the BC? I mean who ACTUALLY wants to play those old crappy titles anymore man.. :s

It would seem pretty obvious to me that Params7 likes to play those games... why do you care? :bleh:

Me Two! The belzar thing will only activate booting of PS2 DVD's if the PS3 that you own has BC.

It's not about bragging, but for someone who wants to jump onto the PS3 bandwagon directly without owning a PS2, would surely love to try out the older titles. I just sold my PS2 to get the Xbox 360, before that I made sure I played somewhat every popular title there is to it. If something got left out, then it would be good to have the PS3 do that work for me when I buy it.

It's not really a deal breaker, but for some, they really love their PS2, including yours truly. Even though it's aged out, no one can question the amount of exclusive titles it has had over the period of time. I know a lot of my friends would still want to purchase the PS2 to play God of War I & II. It's just a matter of what one's experience has been on the PS2. And no they are not "old crappy titles" like you put it.

Coming to the topic, I'd love to see this being executed rather than being put on paper only.

is pirating BD disc cheap now? dont think so,never seen a cheap BD writer and media.

also,it wud be really difficult to bypass PSN and the frequent firmware updates of the PS3.

Im sure Sony wud be able to remotely disable modded ps3s(i think ms can do that with the x360)

actually a BR Write from LG costs 6.5k & Blank BR Media Costs 500 bucks

Lol all that's true but the PS3 needs to read from those discs which's the ultimate challenge!

I call BS

1. BC needs to be enabled by Sony, It can be done thru a software update,not a modchip

2.How come we have never heard from this so called website,most modders provide an early proof of concept vid ala PSP "hello world"

3.Void ur warranty by soldering just a few wires..thanks by no thanks

4.If the PS3 does get any kind of softmod or even a hardware mod,say goodbye to PSN and DLC,game addons etc

5.Just like MS did when they released an update to ban X360's with mods..they can do the same

I hope the PS3 never gets modded.....buy legit...support the developers!!!

If it cracks, temme how many of you are gonna DL 10+ GB games on Indian Broadband. BR Disc & Writer are still costly :bleh:

But still until something solid & demo'ed live/recorded on internet comes up this goes into Rumour Bin :)
