PS3 Jailbreak - Discussion Thread

DAMN IT!!!,i just took out my ps3 HDD and plugged it in my PC for space....(i was frustrated with my PS3),i am on OFW 4.25,can anybody tell me if,right now,it is possible for me to install any working CFW which lets me install MM and then play........................with freedom!!!

If your ps3 was originally on <3.55 and then you updated the fw then it is possible using a hardware flasher but other then that currently it is not possible.
But I would suggest you to refrain from updating your ps3 to 4.30 for the time being.. Maybe something comes up..
 
and the Hardware flasher job is far from being a cakewalk. So unless you're really skilled to perform the downgrade, forget hopping onboard this CFW bandwagon.

I knew this would show up and this is the exact reason, why I didn't succumb to updating the firmware and/or buy one of those True Blue dongles.

Noob-friendly guides are already available on PS3 modding forums for most of the topics. Same queries and doubts are asked and cleared too. Yes, the modding scene is confusing, but once you get your basics right, you can follow what is happening.
 
Black Screen as game starts...

My ps3 is jb'd. kmeaw 3.55 n all that. Secondhand bought recently. Am a complete noob so please don't flame me if u think the q is dumb. Anyway for some games I am getting a black screen and then nothing happens. Games i tried were RAW12 n Prince of Persia Forgotten Sands. I tried Prince of Persia from both internal and external. It comes in the multiman list but the same problem is present in both. I got rid of RAW 12 as I was running out of space. I really wanna play POP so could someone help me out?

Mention your ps3 fw here or if you're buying one, look for one having fw 3.55 or lesser version..

We will take on from there..

Although getting a new console with lower fw version is really difficult, so if you wanna hope on in the scene, a used one with 3.55 will be your safest bet..
 
I'm trying very hard to remember the name of this one game but it just eludes me. All I can tell you is it's got 4 characters - I think they're all geeks with guns. 3rd person shooter. Supposed to be a pretty good game. For the life of me I just can't remember the name.

Oh and on another note, for everyone trying to upgrade your PS3's HDDs, it's not as simple as swapping the existing one with a new one. I bumped mine up with a 640 gig drive and it slowed to a crawl. The audio from all the games was out of sync, video was choppy; hell even the XMB was slow and stuttering.

Turns out the PS3 doesn't like 4k Sector Drives. You guys might want to do your research before you pick up a new drive to replace your PS3's internal drive.

- Compatibility problem with some Slim models (CECH-25xx) is now fully fixed.
- XMB Icons problem from in-game PS button is now fixed.
- Loading games from App_home Icon is now fixed.
- Many other fixes from version 1.00 for a better performance and added stability.
- It was tested by hundreds of testers on all PS3 models (FAT & Slim) and no problems were encountered.
- It can run games signed with Keys up to version 4.21 without any Eboot/Sprx patching needed
- Games can be loaded from Disc Icon (with Original game in BD) and from app_home (Disc-less, but not all games).
- Current 3.55 homebrew applications can’t be loaded on this CFW, applications must be re-signed properly for FW4.21.

Understandable! However, do read up on some reviews of this new firmware before making the shift. I wonder if Kmeaw is still around and perhaps he can build a stable firmware like before, I'd upgrade in a heart beat. No disrespect to Rogero though.
