^That should work although its an adhesive tape. There're tapes which do not stick to the surfaces but this should do just fine. Ensure the surfaces are thoroughly cleaned! :)

K...will do it in the morning...nd another thing is that the tape is pretty thin, so u think I should put double layer of it?

You should get thermal pads in store that sells usual electronic supplies like IC chips, spares etc etc. They are widely available here.

@TH, I used Eastman heat gun. Actually my friend purchased it from a shop in Ghatkoper. If you want details I will ask em. Looks like good quality flame less heat gun. Has airflow and temp adjustment and display.

Yes please. For future reference! Easily available at LR, you think?

Guys, as mentioned in one of my threads, I have a PS3 that's not reading discs. Before I take the ultimate decision of getting the lens assembly changed, I want to try and clean the lens and for that I need the TR10 torx screwdriver to open the PS3.

I have looked around in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, but havent been able to find one. Can anyone help me with this ?

So much for the services you're willing to offer, your cell-phone number is present in your user ID itself - shows how much non-advertising you're!

Besides, we do respect and value others' opinions and the constructive criticism behind their posts - not come up with the very first post in the forums ranting "i can see that all of u guys don't have any knowledge about repairing a gaming console". Certainly not the best way to present yourself!

I'm rather surprised, Crazy_Eddy did not hand over a ban to you!

~Peace.

I reassembled my PS3 today and it did turn on as well, but then I wasnt able to insert any disk..thought maybe theres some disk in it already, so I opened the blu-ray drive and to my surprise there was no disk in there. Instead, there were two hook kind of clips obstructing the disk entry. I then googled a bit and found a manual eject video and fixed the poblem.
Then without putting back the screws of the drive I inserted the disk and then there was some rattling sound, donno why. Then I went through emergency eject video and did as instructed. Screwed in the drive screws now, then tried inserting the disk. BUT just 3/4th of the disk went in, it did eject normally when I pressed the eject button. Then I kinda forced the disk to insert but it wasnt getting detected..now I have no clue as what is to be done to fix this drive ka issue...

Help me guys...

^^I am not sure about what comments were posted on Youtube but this fix does work..if ur PS3 is out of warranty then y not give it a try, if needed...the options that I had were to either buy another PS3, which would be too much of an expense or try and fix it myself..

If anyone from Mumbai needs the heat gun, its available for 1200 bucks here ( 300-500°C adjustable ) if you want to buy it. And no, hair drier probably wont work :P

Hi sripad.. facing the YLOD on my Ps3 since a couple of days.. can you please tell me where i can find the heat gun in bombay.. thanks..

@ Shripad waiting for your YLOD fix video!

@ harish So your PS3 is up and running, I presume.

Thanks

Theres no point fixing it again coz I know that it wont last long..but the thing is that I am not willing to spend another 19k for another PS3 right now...might try a fix, just for the heck of it..time pass bhi ho jayega;)
Nywys lets c how things turn up...

perhaps you didnt fix it properly? applying a little more thermal paste that whats required can actually make matters worse, so just keep that in mind next time

well instead of throwing it away, maybe you can install it in a different cabinet and improve airflow inside, or else give it to me
