PS3 price drops

not so great unless you are a rich-man's son to afford the original game discs. i would like to see price drop in games rather than price drop in consoles. the main cause of piracy that exist today is due to high price of original discs.

I don't see that happening. Moreover the next console's games might be more costlier. Ps2 games were 50$, ps3 games are 60$, ps4 game's might be 70$?

Debatable. Like any other topic for that matter. :)

The way I see it, as long as you pay for a title and sell it off after a playthrough or two, you do not lose much. Unless you have a habit of collecting these titles. Besides you need to understand that most titles being sold in our country is priced very very competitively compared to the US. You can see for yourself if you compare the Flipkart pricing vis-a-vis Amazon pricing for a game. I am sure even if a good title was to cost somewhere around the 200 INR mark, most folks would rather prefer pirating it.

Anyhow, that is completely off-topic and let us not drift this thread to elsewhere. On topic, this is definitely good news for folks who do not have this awesome console as yet.
 
Just as i dreamed few days back. I was buying this console for under 15k :p Even told Renegade about my dream :lol:

As soon as i am done with the xbox titles. I am getting this :D (That was the original plan anyways, even w/o the price drop).
 
This is needed for Sony to go past the competition. They were not able to outsell MS360 in North America due to 360 being cheaper and given more options. With this move, Sony can see some spike in sales. The same can be applied to India also.

I am pissed as the guy at Best Buy store said there wouldn't be any price drop for a while and bought this for $299.99 + tax :mad:
 
^ lol.. how could you believe retailer ? they always say there will not be a price cut. In UK one of the stores offered a cleared sale for PS3 and X360, I was anticipating this move, its high time MS should come out with new version of 360 with blue ray for same old price :p
 
Good news, I was trying to borrow one for some days, now this new price is really very lucrative.

There are some awesome exclusive titles on the PS3 which I do not want to miss, will plan for a purchase.
 
Also considering the games that are waiting in the pipeline. Coming of Uncharted 3 with this price drop would be a big boon to PS3 sales. That is the game pretty much every PS3 fans (including me) is waiting for :) Maybe in November if they bundle UC3 with PS3 for $250, that would go off the shelves like crazy :hap2:
 
How I wish PS3 came with a Kinect. :( I just got my close friend an Xbox only because of the Kinect, now I am looking forward to get a console for myself but terribly confused between an Xbox and a PS3.

Pros

1. Cheaper than PS3.

2. Kinect is awesomeness.

3. Better after sales service.

Cons

1. Availability of games is an issue compared to a PS3.

2. I am not into Xbox exclusives.

3. No Jailbreak ?

1. Move is inferior to Kinect.

2. More expensive than an Xbox.

Motion gaming is still in its early stage but you still cannot beat the simplicity of a kinect. Moreover, my little nephews just love it. But on the other hand, for more serious gaming sessions a PS3 is a better option. The reason being that I play all multi platform games on a PC hence the console will be used solely for the exclusives and PS3 has some of my favorite exclusive franchises.

They don't. Some of Xbox games just vanish alltogether. Example being Assassin's Creed 2, Smackdown vs Raw 2011, Red Dead Redemption etc ... Not able to find these games anywhere, not even in grey market. Newer games are not a problem but old classics are. I had to literally search through more than 20 shops before i got my hands on Red Dead Redemption and that too at a premium.

Does it work like a PS3 jailbreak or a modchip? Can you provide Links?

Regarding other Pros and cons, I have pretty much made up my mind to invest in a PS3 because at the end of the day its the hardcore games which matter and PS3 exclusives simply outnumber and outperform Xbox exclusives. Besides, a blu ray player is nice.
