PS3 price drops

I have a query. Let us just say, we have a PS3 with CFW 3.55. Now we remove the present hard drive which has CFW 3.55, buy another hard drive, swap it and install OFW 3.70. Can't we not simply swap the hard drives and shuffle between CFW 3.55 and OFW 3.70? Or is something programmed to the ROM when updating the firmware?
 
nopes...u can't do that. As with the FW update u actually update the flash memory or the BIOS. removing the HDD is immaterial of the fw AFAIK.
 
Pretty much thought we can't. If that was around I am sure the hax0rs would've knew it before. Meh stupid me! :lol:
 
Not really. It would not work. When a so called PS3 flash is done, the NAND chip is loaded with the new FW hash check and ECC protocols. Upon boot they hunt for a specific FW which is resident on the HDD. The pairing as to be similar, else it will not boot.

Have a lot of games to finish before I have to play UC3, R3..but I believe in 2-3 months time, it will come to 3.55CW:)

though i am not a heavy gamer,i am planning to purchase ps3 with move bundle. as i stay alone and i love playing tekken 6 how much internet speed is required to play via PSN?
