Thats what I have said above.. Unless you do something like that you wont be able to mount the PSU with FAn facing up :)... You can go ahead and do it... :)

Yes...will do it tomorrow and see how it goes....

I am thinking of taking the cabby(empty) to my mechanic who will easy cut it with a gas cutter:! :ohyeah:

I will post the outcome....:lick:

Oh boooy....

The PSU screw holes do not align with the case holes when keeping the fan facing up...so installed it facing down....

Also installed the cooler facing front and made a vent in the front of the case...( View attachment 18584 )

Recovered corrupted Windows....

These are current readings while writing this post:

Vcore: 0.93V

CPU: 40C

Mobo: 48C

CPU Cooler: ~2000rpm

Can I install and enable AMD Cool n Quiet with this cooler.....

Also, one more thing about the CPU freq.... it shows 775MHz/800MHz recently( before installing the new cooler ) in "System Properties"...

IMO, it should be 3.1GHz....if I am right then what's the problem???:@

Thanks Guys!

800mhz shows up when the system is idle.. keep AMD overdrive running and try and launch a game or software and you will see the frequency go up to 3.1ghz... check and post the image please..

I saw the frequency increase when more applications were running...so that is OK :ohyeah:

I don't have AMD overdrive installed:facepalm:....downloading it....btw in its performance tuning guide its mentioned to change certain features in BIOS (like Cool n Quiet, Fan Control, etc.)

I am a little skeptic of doing these things now...

Anyways...here is the screenshot while playing a BluRay Movie(.mkv):

P.S.:The freq was changing independently in all 4 cores:cool2:

PMed you some screen shots.. you dont need to worry about it.. When idle the proccy downclocks so its showing 800mhz and while running bluray movie, may be only one core is been utilised. Anyway some dual cores when unlocked to quad have improper distribution of workload between cores..

Ok....got it....

Currently I am using ASUS PC Probe II for CPU/Cooler/Mobo Temp/Vcore/FanSpeed monitoring....

For controlling the system, ASUS EPU-4 Engine ( two auto-switching between two modes: Power-Saving and High-Performance )

Is there a better software for controlling/monitoring???

BTW, Played Burnout:Paradise City last night and the CPU temp as just 45C..... which is very :cool2:....:ohyeah:

:hap2:

Any ideas guys????

Hi Guys,

I have now decided to OC but one thing I am concerned with is the CPU temp, 40~41C at idle (with "AMD EPU-4 Engine" running(AUTO Mode))...:@

While gmaing (Prince Of Persia/Burnout: Paradise City), the temp goes upto 48~50C max.....:ohyeah:

I think its OK for gaming but hotter at idle as compared to other people:ashamed:

I have CnQ/FanControl enabled in BIOS...should I disable these and try?

.....any ideas guys?

Thanks in advance......

You seem too much concerned with the temperature... Please post a core temp screen shot. I dont think you should be concerned with the temp, they are absolutely fine.

And with whose temps are you comparing to??

As already tried, Core Temp does not detect any temps(due to core unlocked cpu).

Here's the screenshot from ASUS PC Probe II(for CPU/Mobo) and GPU-Z(for GPU):

I need you to switch back to dual core and show me core temps... If they are below 30 at idle and below 40 on load then you dont have to worry about anything. I know the total temperature would go up when running in quad, but nothing to be worried about.

Oh..oooh.....unable to switch back to dual core....tried default BIOS settings..no good...

Then disabled two cores manually from BIOS... still all 4 cores active......

Any more ideas? :)

Do you remember what you did to unlock those cores??? :P

Anyways disable advance clock calibration in BIOS. If there is an option called Unlock CPU core then disable that one. A pic of BIOS would help me, because I dont have an idea how are the options for core unlocking in your Mobo.

According to your siggy, ASUS M4A88T-M LE has core unlocker option in BIOS... try disabling it... Does your mobo have a hard button on it for core unlocking (in case- coz I have seen it on many asus mobos)??

If you dont want to try what I have mentioned above, just open your case... Reset the BIOS by shorting pins by a jumper...Thats it :)

I tried that to...no success...

If 41C at idle is OK (ambient temp:~31C).....can we move on to OC using Amd OD.....

I am complete n00b at Ocing and have read the Performance Tuning Guide from AOD.....which states disable:

CnQ

Fan Contril

C1E

CPU NB, Memory or HT Link at default......:)

Where do you stay in Mumbai?? I will rather come up to your place to help you in overclocking rather than replying here ;) ( Just kidding)

Temperatures are normal bro. You can overclock. Probably this unlocked proccy wont go beyond 3.8ghz... Just drag the multiplier tab... Dont drag it directly, do it in steps... Check your temps again... Run stability test from OD, if stable again push the Multiplier, again check the temps and so on till it crashes in stability test.
