It is just that no one has the answer. That is all. If someone had found the answer, I am sure they would have posted here.

lol, you can get a decent sb live for 1500, that's cheaper than a 'pro' mousepad.
People waste $25 on a square foot of rubber and remain content with onboard sound, marketting at it's best.

hmm, shud i laugh?

i guess you be one of the people complaining @ steampowered forums about how "awp is noob weapon" and "how it should be banned" and stuff.

also, the square foot of rubber is not actually rubber, its either hardened plastic or glass substrate and the build quality of the surfaces is something you would not know about unless you actually cough up the dough to purchase it and see.

btw the average "pro" mousepad is much larger than 1 square foot. more like 4 sq ft. it seems you got ripped of v bad.

dont divert topic mate, he is having a driver issue and thats why OpenAL is nto working properly.

also, did u know what OpenAL is a software emulation layer over OSS/DirectSound/ALSA and it does not directly access hardware? Thats why even my 2 yr old Realtec AC97 sound codec was supported by OpenAL.

Get your facts clear mate.........

You Sir should get your facts right. If you have an OpenAL ICD (just like an OpenGL ICD - Installable Client Driver), it accesses hardware straightaway. OpenAL uses the same arch as GL. You have a software emulation layer in case there is no direct hardware support. This is routed thru DS, OSS, ALSA or whatever the audio layer is. This is akin to the Microsoft GDI Generic OpenGL driver(slow!!!! since its done by CPU). As of now creative is the only hardware manufacturer that supplies an ICD as no other manufacturer actually has hardware audio support.

So you mean all other cards will do the sound in CPU? Baaahhhhhh

What other games use OpenAl?
What I mean is all the 3D Audio processing is done on CPU. This is the case with all onboard/VIA Envy24 etc based solutions.

How abt ripping the driver off, cleaning with Driver Cleaner and installing an updated one or the same again ?

Tried that.

Same thing. Pretty depressing :(. Imagine a game like Quake 4 i spent 6 days downloading.. and no sound :(... Ill try again...

Yea, you go chaos.
Incase anyone got the idea I was trying to diss goldie, I wasn't (I thought it was pretty obvious from my post).
I honestly think a cheap dedicated soundcard would be more useful to him than that mousepad.

Neither did I deviate from the topic, all I said was soundcards deserve some priority over mousepads if you expect to play without any compatibility issues.
I bought my sb live value in 2000 since the onboard audio was giving heavy sound crackling in ut99 and it still works fine in all games, not a bad investment at all.

I stopped playing cs 4 years ago and don't care much about gaming mousepads, they don't make enough difference to justify the $25 pricetag.
The make cost must hardly be $5 per piece, that's a 500% profit margin lol. My rs.10 clothpad works just as fine with optimal levels of grip & glide and doesn't ruin the mousefeet either.

I agree though, some things are fun to buy just for the sake of self-indulgence and cool gaming mousepads are definitely one of them, but not if you have to live with onboard audio.

btw dude, 4 sq.ft. mousepads? That's larger than most comp desks.

lol, Now that's sig material.

^^ Im sure you were trying to diss me.

Just coz i cant afford a sound card becoz i buy Mouse pads and Mice.

I guess your not much of a Gamer to understand the value of a Mouse and Mouse Pad in CS. Or any other game for that matter.

No one was/is trying to diss you. But the fact is there is a huge market for mousepads which IMO are definitely not worth 25$, maybe as a pro gamer you might wanna use it, but as a serious gamer I would rate a good sound card any day over the mousepads...

My pad was for 15$ btw.. But my dad refuses to gimme money to buy a sound card. And the money i have saved is going for my CH which is already ordered.

Plus, what difference does a Sound Card make in tourneys?

Tourneys have onboard sound. And its not like your allowed to attach you Sound Card and play.

And just now in your sig you dissing me.

Nobody's forcing you to buy a dedicated soundcard, they make no difference in tourneys and if all your hardware purchases revolve around them then don't play quake4.
You get what you pay for, simple.

Tourneys organisers don't know the first thing about gaming, they are more concerned with sponserships and making money.

I've seen how cpl officials go on crying for hours how they won't allow custom mouserates because changing from 125hz to 500hz requires the herculean task of sitting through 1 reboot.
They go on to make excuses like not everyone uses 500hz, sure while you're at it force everyone to play with their right hand.

People play best at what they are used to, each comp should be allowed to use custom hz, mice, pads, keyboards, a private cubicle, any damn thing it takes to allow the player to play at his/her best.
Forcing everyone down to the most common denominator is retarded.

And no all that isn't too much to ask for, look at motorsports, they treat their drivers like babies.

Ok, i dont get what that has to do with "Quake 4 Sound Issues.."

As your OT anyways ill add a few things..

Even CPL who know everything about gaming, as you say, have no Dedicated Sound Cards in their machines. Im more of a LAN player but just coz i wanna get play other games doesnt mean i HAVE to buy a Sound Card. People w/ even older Mobo's have proper sound just not surround. All i was asking for was normal Sound as i know it is 100% possible.

Since youd rather diss me than anything i went out and found the answer myself, no thanks to you.
