OC & Modding Query and Help: Which AMD Processor will give my highest clock - on OC

Hi Guys, need some help from you. Wanted to know which processor on AMD (intel guys- please excuse) will give me the fastest OC. It has to be dual core ideally. Many moons back i did a SD 3700 and 0517 3000, but days have changed.
Correct me if i am wrong but at the moment
for highest clock the 165 would be the best bet
and for single core instead of the 3000 or 3700 i assume 146 would be the right choice.
I need stability and highest clock - cache size is immaterial.
The 165 is doing good but i dare say a X2 4200 would go all the way to 2.7. Infact my biggest bother in dual core is a toss between 165 and x2 4200 - when OC'd STABLE.
Also on the 2XX series, which would be the best bet. Sorry for the blabber but summarizing.
Highest Clock 939 - single core
Highest clock 939 - dual core
Highest clock 940 Dual proc - dual core

Please give relevant data on proc's available in mumbai only. Cooling is not a problem. Memory speed is not an issue - just fastest clock - TIA

Welcome back PCJedi.... where were you all this time :p ??

and yeah, I think the Opty 165 or 170 would be your best bet. X2s could oc very well.... but there is no guarantee abt that...

On the other hand, see Anish's 146... 3 ghz!!!

So, I guess whatever you choose it depends on your luck....

Trust me with Single core Opty's its plain luck... Some clock high some dont but yes one thing you can be sure off... 99% off chips does decent amount of overclocking on stock cooler with low volts and almost 90% wont go higher after a certain limit even if you pump in insane amount of Vcore...

With that said a Dual core is totally different ball game... They go high but yes cooling is an issue with them also not to forget you cannot go crazy with the Vcore. People with dual core optys will give you a better advise on that...

Thanks. nikhil, have been travelling a lot, and places where there is no Internet. :) , but still manage to browse TE for daily, weekly or whenever possible.

So 165 seems to be a good choice for the clock..If i can get 2.8 on 165, then the X2 loses. But my own personal experience is that the x2 gave me 2.8 and the 165 is giving me 2.5 - memory is pdp and as i said..i am ready to drop memory speeds.

Any 265 users..or any other dual core dual opty's. K8N-DL is very unfriendly and others are worse, the choice is between, Tyan and Iwill. Any help on this will be usefull..or links from the net..somewhere when i can find which board and cpu batch..on 265 or 270.

Bump!! Any dual processor users here..I need to know on any success with any dual processor board. It would help.

Every where people on the net are saying you don't need to OC dual processor opteron's. I disagree.

Any TE guys out there, who have any info?

IIRC Funky was supposed to get a Dual 265 based config.

But OC'ing a Dual-Proccy config is gonna be a pain, imagine getting 4 cores stable :O

Thanks DL, I think your reply was to the point and exactly what i wanted.

Anish, On the K8N-dl with 265 i have only managed to go upto 1.90 Ghz. That is around 5% - First the memory is an issue. Its ECC and hence difficult to OC, but when we drop the memory speeds also, the Processor refuses to do anything more. I understand that we need to get 4 cores stable, and thanks..on that comment it gives me some idea's.
I am getting some 275's today, so lets see what i can get that moving. Should get time this weekend to sit on them.
