Friends,

My uncle is sending me a AMD X2 processor through DHL as 'gift' from USA.

Can you please tell me -

1. will CUSTOMS charge any Taxes ?
2. if yes, aprox how much ?

hey can you tell me how was the duty charged & how it got cleared in the customs ? did DHL do the needfull or you had to do it ?

also in thhis same way can I order a processor online ?

Everything was done by DHL, I just have to SIG+DATE+PHONE in lots of DOCs.
 
thanks, so on what amount did they charge all this, on the invoice sent by your uncle or where did they derive the actual price ?

Yes, I am going to upgrade my RiG with this Processor. ZERO FREE time this week :no: . no other change, may be another RAM but RAM's price is still high :no:
 
at 48$ valuation you were pretty unlucky to have been charged customs.(if it was marked as gift that is)

i got a product valud at 200$(actual value of 1k$+) via UPS without customs :lol:

if the package is small and the customs don't know about the product usually you won't be charged.. atleast thats my experience.

OT: How much was the DHL shipping cost?

HELP​

My friend sent me a Computer Fan, costs USD 2 = Rs 100/- via DHL.

Custom Charge: Rs 2842.72/- :huh:

Earlier, he sent me a AMD 4200 processor which costs me 800/- as C.D.

What to Do ?

It states -

basic custom duty: 606

counter vailing duty: 1390

additional duty of custom: 407

duty handling fee: 300

education cess: 103

s.tax: 36

Uhh, i read some time back, that CPUs, RAM & Hard drives have zero customs duty. Everything else pc related does have duty.

..since they are considered building blocks for the so-called IT superpower.

This was maybe cpl+ yrs back, have things changed ?
 
well, when I got my X2 processor 27 Oct 06, they charged me 750/-.
So, I don't think the rule is applicable.....
