hey guys i am planning to buy a gaming laptop for myself and i have short-listed lenevo y500,y580 asus g75 and g55.i have few questions in my mind,it would be great if you guys clear it out...

1>i have read on this forum that y500 is having track pad issues but it can be solved by replacing elan track pad with synaptics.so my question is, does the problem gets totally solved after changing the track pad or does minor issue lasts?i have also read that there is only one lot affected with this problem,so how can i find out which laptop is faulty?is there any other problem with the laptop itself?

2>how is lenevo y580?i mean does this also have the same problem?and how can it be solved?

3>i am planning to buy the laptop from Thailand, does the lenevo laptop have international warranty?

4>can you please tell me the price of the least powerful model(at least with fhd screen,2GB graphic card,500 GB hard disk if possible ssd also) of asus g75 and g55 in Thailand and India?and please link the list of dealer of asus in Thailand and India?

thanks

hey mate, i think the new refresh of y500 (with gt750m) has the new trackpad, but ive read the issue isnt completely gone, but i think the problem might be blown out of proportions the y500 has sold a lot and there are many happy customers, ive read that you can fix the problem by reducing the sensitivity of trackpad. at least for me it is not a deal breaker. as for y580 i do not think you can find it any where now, only second hand laptops. why dont you look for y510p instead.
as for international warranty, it is not easy to answer, i dont think lenovo from US come with international warranty, but the one in sold in malaysia had international warranty. even after that it is upto lenovo to honor that warranty or not. in the past lenovo idea series products did not have international warranty, only think series products did, but most probably if your product has international warranty lenovo will only honor it if they sell the same product in india, why dont you call or email or maybe better ask in lenovo forum the question about warranty. as for think series product it doesnt matter if they sell the product or not, they will even fix a discountinued prodcut if its in warranty. my lenovo thinkvision monitor was imported from US and it was never sold in India and it was a discontinued product, it had a problem and lenovo india imported a new piece for me from china. so you can also look into lenovo's thikpad series. a bit expensive but worth every penny with their built quality.

i Had Lenovo y550 from US couple of years back. It had 1 year international warranty which you can check on their website.
You can buy extend the warranty by buying a carepack from the santacruz service centre. www.geekaaysystems.com
