Hi all,

This is my first post & first question on techenclave. I've heared much name of this forum therefore I came here.

I will ask some questions related to wordpress. I have a self hosted wp blog. I want to install feedjit. I m installing it from here . At the bottom it says "Paste the code into the sidebar of your Blog or Website. Once you're done FEEDJIT will immediately start tracking your visitors." Now how to paste it to the sidebar??? I don't know any programming languages except HTML & my knowledge of HTML is also very less.

Another question, I want to install "Add to Any Share/Save/Bookmark Button" plugin from wp plugins. After clicking on install it asks for hostname, username, password & connection type. What wud i write here at hostname? My blogs address? Or what? Anyways , i write my blogs address at hostname & then click on proceed. Then an error comes saying "Error: There was an error connecting to the server, Please verify the settings are correct." So what should i do?

Another question, my blog is new, so how to add it to google & to some other search engines & get some good traffic?

How can i add some ads to my blog in my sidebar or some other place? Which advertising program should i use? Forget google because my site is new & google will require my site to be 6 months old. SO which is the best internet money making program ??

Ok, only this much questions for now.

Very easy, no coding required~

1) Logon to your Dashboard

2) Navigate to Appearance > Widgets

3) Find "Text " widget and click on Add

4) Now Text Widget will appear in sidebar, now click on Edit

5) Enter the code into a box and click save changes.

Note: you should be using a Widget aware theme, if you get a error like "No Sidebar defined. your theme isn't widget aware:P

Use a social bookmarking plugin

If Plugins installer is giving problems, Simply Upload the Plugins via FTP into your /wp-contet/plugins dir.

and then activate it.

Social Bookmarking site like stumbleupon are great ways to get traffic. remember content is the King!

If you have Unique & Original content, you site would be popular;)

Procedure is same as adding feedjit.

Just replace feedjit cod with adsense code
 
And which advertising program is good, i 've heared of adbrite, bidvertiser, etc. Which is the best in ur opinion?
 
Adsense is the most popular one and comes Adbrite.

But for any advertising network to function on your site, you need a steady flow of traffic

How can i make a custom theme for wordpress? Is there any software for it?

Another little question, if my site's name is Example Web Page, & by opening it my blog opens, then how can i do like this, if they type example.com/topic , then my custom web page opens which i've made through frontpage. What should i do to enable this in my cPanel???? Just shortly explain me this.

Making your own WP theme requires some knowledge of web development. If you don't have it, don't worry. can read the docs and start learning. but it would require little amount hard work:P

Otherwise Google for "wordpress themes" and use any of the countless theme available for free

easy job,

*Simply Put your custom page that you designed in a folder

* Upload that folder into Public_html dir

* now this page would accessible via [noparse]http://your-domain-name-here.com/name_of_custom_folder/[/noparse]

ok thanx done all successfully. U r a real helper. On some site i came to know that i need to make some robots.txt file for seo. Is this true? What should i write in this seo? I m a total noob in seo, so guide me here.

Another little question, if i want my visitors to download a file, then how can i do that? I think i should upload it to public_html & then what code should i use it to make it downloadable by the visitors? Should i upload it to public_html or public_ftp, or some another folder?
 
ok, i installed all in one seo plugin, now what? In settings, i get All in one SEO. Now these boxes are empty, home title , home description, home keywords, what should i write there, just shortly explain me.

And i need my visitors to download that file, so i will try what u said.

And i installed 1 more plugin named "sociable". I also enabled it from plugins, also checked it in settings > sociable. Everythings correct, now what should i do to enable it on my sidebar??

Remember, This Plugin never fills these field automatically. instead you have manually enter it based upon individual posts.

How to use it

* Titles
The text that you see in your browser’s window bar is the most important thing *on* your page. Why you want it in your sidebar?
The work of this plugin is to automatically add links to your favorite social bookmarking sites on your posts
 
No need of sidebar that too sociable plugin u can also try bookmarkify plugin also instead of sociable yes u need to fill the seo options so tht crawlers can find the words...
 
Hey I m not able to change my blog title from settings, what should I do?

Whatever I write there in my blog title in Settings>General, it doesn't reflect in my "Title" of my homepage, why is it so ? Sorry to bump this thread again.
