PC Peripherals Quotation received for new desktop

Hi,

I just recvd this quote from my PC chap. Do let me know if the prices seem fine and if I have chosen the correct components/brands. My usage is for MS Office, Quciken, Internet & Movies sometimes.

1. Processor : Intel C2D E7300 - 2.66 Ghz/3MB Cache/1066 FSB - 5900/-

2. Mobo: Intel DG 31PR - 3450/-

3. RAM: Simtronics 2GB DDR2 667Mhz - 1300/- (Shouldn't i be taking Transcend ?? .. is 667 Mhz fine?)

4. Cabinet & SMPS - Iball i6363 1300/-

5. Seagate 250 GB SATA HDD - 2300/-

Total - 15050 + 1000 for delivery, assembling & installation

I will use the DVD writer, keyboard, mouse, LAN card & speakers from my present pc.

I have Altec Lansing MX5021 speakers. Should i add an audio card for good sound output??

DEL/ASS/INSTLL: Don't waste 1k on that ! Most shops assemble the stuff free of cost(provided u get everything from there),once everything is assembled in the cabby,put that in the box it came in and take it home in an auto/ur vehicle...

Only thing left is the connection of the standard cables & installation of the os that some helpful friend of yours could help you with...

I'll tell them abt the 1k assembling, etc.. I'll tell him i'll pick it up ..

1.Well you could consider boards from asus,gigabyte & msi !

2.Nice,the i720 should do the job !

3.Tell them that shops do it for free and that your buying a complete system from them ! Else just get all the parts back home n ask someone to come over and get it up and running !
 
Hows the AMD as comapred to Intel?? I would possible save another 2-3k if i put an AMD. But i don't want to put AMD is performance difference is vast.
 
Looking at your usage , AMD is a good choice if it saves you money , just buy a 780G based mobo , you can then even play HD content with ease

get gigabyte ep31-ds3l board instead of intel. for u may decide to oc it later:)

get a zebby bijli cabby fr .8k and pair with a good psu cm460 2.2k atleast.

and yea get transcend ddr2 800 sticks. they wont be more than 1.5-1.6k
 
instead of tht intel Dg board Get Gigabyte P31-d3l board....could help u in future....(u knw what i mean ;) )

A local cabinet is ok. It won't have the quality of say CoolerMaster cabinets i.e. there may be sharp edges and it will be designed more for so called "style" and less thought about cooling.

But w.r.t PSUs, it's mostly hit or miss. Most generic PSUs that come with cabinets are generic chinese power supplies that are rated for 180W is what a dealer told me. It may have changed now given that people are putting power hungry cards in their system. But, if you have anything less than 400W, I would not recommend ever using a high end graphics card.

Well if you like the i720 cabby,just get the cabby w/o the psu and ask him to reduce the price accordingly...
You can never tell when generic psus' might behave unexpectedly or even conk out ! But by spending a little more you ensure stable power supply to the internal components/peripherals for a considerable amount of time...

you can always go for the cabby if you like it. but think twice before you choose an smps. the whole system depends on it. if it is incapable of supplying right amount of power then you risk loosing the whole rig mobo, cpu, gfx card ... everything. the generic psu-s are risky, so we reccomend a aftermarket psu even if it is not high end. i guess you can get dependable psu-s ~1.5K. tell ur dealer to take out the psu from the iball cabby and deduct some amount (~500 if u are a good haggler) from the cabby price, invest that in the better smps. it will cost u ~1k more but u will have peace.
