Just a random thought...Isn't a TCS or an Infy more of a MNC than an American firm with 1 or 2 offshore development center(s) in India?
For some funny reason, the term MNC carries an exalted halo in the middle-class Indian Psyche...but it is not conferred onto our TCS/Satyam/Wipro/HCL and their ilk....weird, innit?

EDIT : While we are at it, Infy has just done it again, this time before anyone joined even. 10 days before the joining they have suddenly changed the joining from Mysore to Chandigarh :rofl: this is after nearly everyone I know whos going to join Infy had booked the air tickets :rofl:

Anyways in the case of my company MNC does not mean much, even though the company is US based with offices in more than a dozen countries, the bulk of the Development/QE is in India and a small part in US. Rest are all marketing and sales offices.

. Thats the beauty of working at such a place. I work for the research wing of the world's largest software company (any guesses? :rofl. The best part about it is I do what I like, when I like with whom I like where I like . My work is completely mine and no one else pokes their noses into it. All I need to do is keep my manager aware of what I'm doing. Potentially everyday can be a holiday as long as it does not have any demos/guest visits/meetings :rofl:. Pay and benefits the best in the industry and so is the work environment . Does it get any better .

Anyway, I get free internet, cheap accomodation & food. We have a huge movie collection on the network. We get to learn new stuff and there is a lot of encouragement for crazy projects. I didnt even have to pay for the materials to make my waterblock
And I get paid to do all this. Ofcourse, we work our a$$ off too. All-nighters are common and bed time is around 3am. Its nice to be a student Chaos said:

As for me, I am still a student and I cant WAIT to get into the real world. In spite of hearing all these rants and stuff, I cant wait.
My engineering life has been so bad, I wonder how can it get worse
Of course, I will sure as hell not be joining any IT company.
1). I dont like coding, programming.
2). I havent really heard many good opinions abt the work conditions.
3). Even if I wanted to, with my marks, no one would give me a job :rofl: :rofl: . So, it does look like the story of the fox and sour grapes. But trsut me it isnt. If I was eligible for placements, I would have preferred a core mechanical company which have very decent pay and for me, the work is interesting.
@Saurav --- As DC said, start preparing for CAT/GMAT, etc.... you have loads of time.
I also read in one of those "inspirational" things that if you didnt have any work to do in your office, it is a sign that your office can do without you and if anybody has to be sacked, it might be you

Luckily, I am doing intern in a company which has facilities well except the sites blocking problem. That, I think is blocked in most of the companies as well.
And to add to all of this, the team is just wonderful.
