basically, a nice british tale being bastardised (as usual) by the yanks, eh?
Nothing yank about a Guy Ritchie movie :P.

From what I've read, Doyle's Holmes wasn't far from how the movie portrays him.
He was very much a druggie before Watson found him, always experimenting stuff on himself being a chemist by occupation.
He was a street brawler well-versed in freestyle fighting.
And he was by no means a stuck-up gentleman, atleast not until Watson was through with him.

yes, the director, even at least some of the writers are brit, but i bet they had to answer to their studio overlords to "americanise" the movie for box office bang...

(disclaimer: though i havent yet actually seen the movie myself)

saving private ryan--9/10 would give it 10/10 if it was fast paced like black hawk down---extremely intense and epic battle scenes at the beginning and the end.

munich--9/10 -- we indians should learn from the isrealis when it comes to combating terrorists.

Saw Hurt Locker. Wasn't really impressed. It's more of a documentary than a movie. I didnt think Avatar was great either but given a choice I would choose Avatar over Hurt locker any day.

^ You must be really kidding and tasteless in terms of performance and movies.. I saw the movie right at the time it was released ie. early age of 2009 :P and it was damn ****ing awesome! No ways it wasnt Documentary.. if you feel so then that means you dont really watch Documentaries that much.. but anyway thats your opinion.. Avatar is a POS with some eye candy and thats it.

Anyway, saw Ninja Assasin.. no words.. all i was thinking was "WTF WAS I THINKING! The guy looks like El Cheapo Chinese Version of Prince of Persia" and at a part i was watching the movie like a Junior KG kid who's made to sit down to do his home work forcefully!.. but then comes towards the climax.. nice action.. nice amount of VFX.. nice style towards the end in teh fight against the brother and then that fater "ozunu".. That made up for the lost time of the whole movie.. BUT THOSE IDIOTS GOTTA UNDERSTAND THAT YOU NEED FREKING LIGHTS IN THAT SCENE TO WATCH AND ENJOY THE SCENE! YOU CANT BLOODY NOTICE MUCH OF THE THINGS IN THAT DARK AND SO CALLED "shadow" SCENES!

Hope Ninja Assain's sequel comes out with a better plot or something which can be really called as a "story or plot"! This was good as it was the 1st part of Ninja Assasin..

went in for a bit of alternative hindi cinema

love sex aur dhoka--8/10

road movie--watched it only for abhay deol's acting which wasn't as good as dev d--still its a unique concept--8/10

@ spacenoxx--

<sarcasm>

what's so great abt avatar? its the same guy loves girl and discards his human body for some alien body--there's still the running around the tree following the girl scene--and loads of cgi!!

</sarcasm>

proceeding to hitman now!!

The Butterfly Effect

Guess I'm late in watching this movie. However, better late than never. :P
The movie was really good - something that I did not expect. Uses the concept of multiverse excellently without explicitly saying so.

8/10

Watched Sherlock Holmes yesterday. As a movie, I'd give it a 7.5 but as a Holmes movie it won't get higher than 5.5 ( and that too for Downey jr's acting ). The action part should have been lesser. Jude law's acting talent has been wasted by the director. And above all, the story doesn't show Holmesian deduction that much. The sign of the four or Valley of fear would have been much better choice. Relationship with Irin got extra importance.
It wasn't exactly what you'd expect a Sherlock Holmes movie to be, but as a movie in its own right, I thought it was quite brilliant.

Question: Is My Name is Khan worth watching?

There is no comparison of these movies!

8/10

Love that movie.

AntiChrist : 8/10

Not a scary movie, just very symbolic. Some explicit gore/scenes warning.

Not actually a film, but a documentary of sorts..

Avatar - Creating the world of Pandora

Watch this to understand the magnitude of efforts that went beyond the making of this film. Really amazing.
