Woody Allen will not be releasing his new film, 'Blue Jasmine' in India

Woody Allen has stopped his latest film, Blue Jasmine, from being screened in India after learning mandatory anti-tobacco adverts would be inserted into its smoking scenes.
Indian law requires health warnings to be shown on screen when characters smoke in films, while cinemas must play anti-smoking ads before every movie.
According to Reuters, Allen refused to accommodate the ads during his film.
It had been due to open in around 30 cinemas at the weekend.
Blue Jasmine stars Cate Blanchett as a wealthy New York socialite who suffers a humiliating fall from grace after her husband is arrested for financial fraud.
The actress's critically acclaimed performance has seen her odds of winning an Oscar next year slashed to 1/4 from an initial 7/1 in August.
The film features two smoking scenes that would have given cause for the on-screen disclaimers - typically scrolling text warning viewers of the dangers of tobacco use.
A publicist for Allen told Reuters: "Due to content in the film, it cannot be shown in India in its intended manner. Therefore, the film is not scheduled to play there."
The film's Indian distributor, PVR films, told DNA newspaper the director had overall creative control over the film.
"He wasn't comfortable with the disclaimer that we are required to run when some smoking scene is shown in films," Deepak Sharma said.
"He feels that when the scroll comes, attention goes to it rather than the scene. We had to abide by the law and we don't have control over the film."
India's film censor board regularly requires changes to films and while some directors allow the alterations, others have refused.
Many, including Martin Scorsese and David Lynch, argue changes to their films - including changing the aspect ratio in which some movies are shot - are unacceptable because they corrupt the artist's vision.

I'm sad (cause I wanted to watch it as early as possible) and glad (cause Woody Allen has taken a stand against stupid law) at the same time.

Pacific Rim 5.5? Deserves a lot more.
Now you see me 6? Deserves more..
World war z 5? Deserves a bit more..
Lone ranger 5? Deserves a zero.

Gravity - 10/10

Easily the best movie of the year and the best space fiction movie I've seen in my life! Alien, Apollo 13 and Event Horizon comes at a distant next irrespective of their different story arcs. Amazing cinematography. Decent acting by both the characters. Looks like Bullock is showing her age on the screen - appeared quite old.

Please watch it at an IMAX theater if you can.

Pac Rim has a very dull storyline
Only CGI fan would like it

you are right about LR though don't know why i gave it a 5 :P
1/10 for Lone ranger

Pacific Rim: I never like these Alien crap things but out of them this is the best movie I have ever seen. It's meaningless to discuss about story-line for a movie such as this, but whatever was cooked, it was delicious. For the first time in my life, and maybe the last I can give a Sci-Fi a 8/10. 120 minutes of great entertainment. Oblivion and TC seems more crap now.

Gravity

Finally, watched it. Such an amazing film; easily the best movie to come out this year. The visuals are just brilliant, and you can really feel the loneliness one feels up there. George Clooney was great in his short role, but Sandra Bullock pulled off one of her best performances ever. I had some issues with the film's ending sequence, but it can all be attributed to artistic license. With a film this brilliant, it hardly matters. Everyone should experience this movie on the big screen; don't miss it.

Also, I watched it on PVR IMAX screen, Bangalore. Easily, one of the worst theatres I've been to. Firstly, it's not really IMAX; the screen is just around 1.5-2x the size of normal single theatre screens. Secondly, it is overpriced at Rs. 580 per ticket. Thirdly, they had a forced interval of around 15-20 minutes. What the **** were they even thinking about? We paid more than the usual amount to see a brilliant movie on a crappy screen, and then they play us adverts for 15 minutes? We should have been paid for watching those crappy advertisements, rather than we paying them. To hell with the movie experience; I'm not going to watch any movie there again.

Gravity oh my god! Awesome movie! The 3D added a whole lot! Makes you think you're falling forward all the time! The whole movie is about camera angles and direction! Loved the way it was made into a thriller with no scary monsters or spooky ghosts!

Gravity 9/10
Sandra Bullocks was awesome and so was George clooney with the limit screen time he had,
Picturisation was fantastic, the angles and the stunt work were fantastic and no director have come close to capturing space in this way.
Worth a watch a second time and surely a MUST IN 3D,
and maybe 3D has been made for this movie. the small balls of fire, the drops of water, ping pon bat flying around was fun to see.

Gravity... Truly an amazing pic..

Some of the scenes where the director/cinematographer tried to put in some symbolism, just marvelous.

Watched Gravity in IMAX 3D in NYC. This was my first IMAX and it was worth every $

Superbly made movie!!

Agree with most of this post below except the BOLD :D

I was planning to go and watch it in forum.

What do you suggest ?

Go to Cinepolis instead. Cheaper, and the screens and sound systems they have are excellent. However, I'm not sure whether they'll have a forced interval too. Report that here if you happen to watch it there. PVR "IMAX" in Bangalore is a scam.
