I mean he is in police and so he could bypass any security gate checks and Also IMO in nights only patrolling is done no guard post is setup in ground. It took him not more than 2min to stand and point the laser.

One thing though (DO NOT CLICK IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE FULL MOVIE)...
During the sniper setup on the eve of the Police Gallantry award ceremony Deva visits the ground at which the Gallantry awards are to take place the next day. There the green laser beam from the sniper rifle Deva has positioned far away is clearly visible which is aimed at the podium where Rohan will stand and give his speech. Deva checks if the shot will align perfectly or not. Now my question is... wouldn't that place where the award ceremony will be hosted the next morning be well guarded the night before as well? I mean it's a show for the police after all so the presence of security personnel would be but natural. However, no guards are there at all, it's a complete graveyard and Deva roves about in his hoodie without a worry of being spotted positioning the sniper laser.

How did Rajiv Gandhi got killed then in front of so many people and maybe it's how it was written in the script. If we see what's real and what's unreal in Bollywood Cinema and our Tollywood Cinema nobody should go to movies just to see a movie and relax. Did you see the recent Balakrishna Telugu Movie, it was bulshit but everyone saw it one netflix also but I didn't it though.

Exactly my thoughts when Shahid reveals the plot! But in movies such mistakes are pretty common and so here as well.
More to that he rented that apartment for just a few days (maybe for an entire week to set his shot accurately) well, even thats suspicious if they has investigated further which I was actually expecting when the team visits that flat with Nagesh the sniper expert! But they didn't even bothered to investigate as to who rented that flat, the owner, the motto etc. which could have been even more interesting.

Slick, well made thriller. Seeing Cate Blanchett after quite a long time and she definitely looks older than 55 but beautiful nonetheless.
If you are in the mood for an action thriller then don't get into this or you will be sorely disappointed. Instead do the following:
- Take a shower.
- Sever (!) yourself from work-life completely.
- Fix yourself a drink.
- Turn on the AC.
- Put down your phone.
- Slip into the movie.
- Focus on the plot and enjoy.
Well all other points you mentioned were a check for me but this. And this was the most important one it seems now. Just finished watching it. Found it a bit too sterile. I guess i expected a bit more thrill. It was missing.
