The price you have mentioned is for the newer Plus during sale but if you are referring to the older Fire HD 10 then it goes for as low 5-6k during sale. Black Friday isn't far off. For the price they are pretty good. If its just media, reading and browsing then you can get the older version.

No. The iPad is definitely more capable but for the use cases I mentioned above these suffice.
