So how much would a 5 star window AC cost me (atleast 1 ton)? Also let me know about ACs with 4 star rating and which brand/model to go for?
Hitachi 1.1 ton 5star costs Rs 24500 MRP, after dealer discount you should get it for around 23k Summer QC : Hitachi Home & Life Solutions (India) Ltd.

Regarding model.. i have the Follow me series. Its a pretty good one. The newly launched model(i guess its i-clean) cleans itlsef, saving you the task of manually cleaning the filters in a month or so. Also there are models which have Direct inverter technology which will also be power efficient. If i were you and want to purchase a hitachi model.

1. iclean

2.itech

3. follow me.

You need energy efficient ACs since you run them 16-18 hours, your budget is around 20k, energy efficient Split ACs are out of your budget ,

EER of the 1.1 ton summer QC is 11.18

EER of the 1.2 ton SPLIT ACE follow-me recommended by Tejas is 11.34

Summerqc MRP - 24500

ACE followme MRP - 35000

Replace your window ACs with Hitachi SUMMER QC Window ACs

Unlike other household appliances, ACs require regular service/cleaning. Ensure availability of ASS in your respective area. While it is generally accepted that Jap AC's are qualitatively better, it is the Koreans that offer much better ASS.

Looking for a split A/c for a 10' x 10' x 10' room which has one 6' x 4' West facing window, but with very little direct sunlight due to shadows from adjacent buildings. Will be run for around 8 to 10hrs in a day for the next 4 to 5 months. Not willing to spend huge amounts on the A/c. A maximum budget of 20 to 22k is possible. Please suggest accordingly. :)

Hello Friends

I am new to this forum and also will be a first time user of an Air conditioner. My requirement is of a 1 ton split with minimum 4 star rating and i have fascination of Japanese make products.

So with all these I have decided upon two models 1.Hitachi Kaze 1.2T(Model RAU413KRD; 4*, Price 28K) and 2.O General 1T(Model ASG9A; 5*, Price 29K). Here I need your guidance to pick the best based on product features, compressor life and after sales support. I am based in Kolkata.

Please do suggest if you have better alternative for my requirement. My room size is around 132sft and its not top floor. usage will be around 6-8 hrs daily. Budget is max 29K.

If you like Japanese products, have a look at Toshiba, its not available in retail outlets and will have to call carrier.

It has to be a split A/c. I was thinking of getting a 1 ton. May be something from LG or Samsung, as I've had pretty good ASS experiences with them. How is Godrej or Voltas or Haier? Any specific model that can be recommended?

Thanks TheIndian for your reply, but would it be within my budget and what about the after sales for Toshiba in Kolkata.

^^ Regarding voltas, there was one member in one of the AC threads who mentioned that their ASS is pretty bad.. but overall working is fine, Decent conditioning. Regarding LG products, i had a horrible experience as there were times that even at 19 degrees, we didnt feel any conditioning, though i hope they must have improved since then.

Hello everyone. I am in a huge dillema. Going for 1.5 ton split AC for the summers only with around 5 hours of usage a day.

Dont care much about the star ratings.

Here are the options i am getting around here(rajasthan)

1.Panasonic econ pearl -3 star- MRP Rs.24500

2.Onida 18trd3-3star-MRP Rs 25700

3.Videocon VGS53.CVE1-CM- 3 star- MRP Rs 22900

4.Whirlpool chrome III - 3star- MRP Rs 26500

Any first hand experience would be very helpful. I am leaning towards the panasonic considering the JAPANESE QUALITY.but the salesman say its new in the market and on the other hand ONIDA uses HITACHI compresers but it looks awful.

i like how the whirlpool looks...

and the videcon has superb VFM...

plz advice...going for it tommorow..

THANX

PS: i am also open for other models...but i have a low budget...cannot afford HITACHI or DAIKIN ,CARRIER etc

Went to croma yesterday to check out some AC's. I need a Split 1.5 Ton AC. They had a Croma branded 3 star for 25k and 5 star for 29k. These prices include installation, a stabilizer and 3 free services. The prices for Samsung, LG, etc started off at around 27-28 for 3 star AC's. Cashback of 400 bucks if i use my HDFC card (sad that the 5% cashback offer is gone)

I was actually expecting it to be a bit lower as i had read in this thread someone bought a Croma 1.5 ton for 23-24k IIRC. Also getting a Voltas 1.5 ton 2 star rated for 24k including installation through another dealer. Im thinking of getting either the 3 star Croma or the 2 star Voltas, not sure which to get.

Any other choices? Im looking to spend around 25k (extendable to 30k if the AC is really good). Anyone know if i can get any better prices in bangalore? Want to fix up by tomorrow and get it installed before the weekend. Would appreciate the help. Thanks!

Guys, if I wanted to buy a Hitachi AC here in Pune which is the best place to go? Vijay Sales? or where?
