Intel variant is definitely faster against Ryzen 5 2500U.

I think the 8th Gen are not affected by that vulnerability or they already have that fix incorporated

One test app did show my 8th gen i3 as vulnerable. and any fix lowers performance

Already void the warranty by opening the laptop and installing a Crucial 500 GB M2 drive

These days one can get these installed right from shop itself with no warranty issues. Many laptops dont even have those warranty stickers on backpanel now so one can even upgrade himself. I had gone last month to a acer shop and guy there offered a ram upgrade at market price if i wanted 16 gb ram.
