what I meant was the in-thing in the techie/g33k community is to bash whatever is popular with the masses
have you seen their sales numbers?
sorry mate, but you bias clearly sounds like a biased dislike
have you used OS X ever?

The word you're looking for is "recommending".as a matter of fact, I haven't. what can I say, It takes more than gloss and wetfloor effects to push me into buying something. I prefer functionality, I'd rather have the so called "Fisher Price" WindowsXP which is universally compatible with everything, rather than a crippled Unix installation with pretty effects. I don't really know what you are trying to prove here; you bought the iPhone, good for you. why are you hellbent on justifying your purchase of iPhone? iPhone isn't curing cancer or helping third-world countries. It's a cellphone, actually, it's a premium cellphone aimed at people who want to look different. you wanted to be exceptional and be different from the norm, you bought the iPhone and again, congratulations for that. but it's stupid and illogical for you to expect [others] to follow the same route.

Oh yeah, us "g33ks" really like bashing stuff that's hot. it's in our blood to oppose the masse. nevermind if the masses are blindfolded fanboys who refuse to see the grey shades...

I don't have to justify my purchases
why the hell am I even posting a reply for your answers ..posts from a person who possesses a closed mind!
i never bashed any platform..i just stated my preferences..dunno why that is bringing out the worst of you
example include my ipaq 6365, Sony laptops (look for the review for Sony C25 under my nick)
I am getting on your nerves? I wasn't disrespectful, I retorted against your questions and queries. I never asked anyone to justify their purchases, If one likes something, they buy it. the hell with the world. I follow this rule myself. you were going "iPhone pwns everything else" hence I asked why are you hellbent on making iPhone the secondcoming of christ which you took the wrong way.
Closed mind? I consider myself very liberal. so according to you, anyone who's unwilling to just rape their wallets is close minded? I don't purchase Apple products, hence I am close minded? Let's get back into the real world, shall we?
uh oh.

NOT as a casual OS for surfing and downloading porn. use it for all my video applications and its a million times more stable than XP will ever be. one extremely heavy render of a composite on windows and you can feel it struggle until you reboot. nothing of that sort with OS X. i keep my timelines open for days through multiple renders and it still feels awesome.
sure i've had applications quit on me but i've never had the OS itself getting to the state where i thought "shit i better reboot".
Lord Nemesis said:I too have been using Mac OS X Tiger everyday for some years now and we develop one of those major applications that keeps Mac OS alive. Tiger is nowhere close to the stability that Win XP Offers. You would be surprised how many bugs I myself have found in the OS or its programming framework and sent them to Apple.
You would have to program to see how poor the OS is. There are several things that do not work as they should and we have a number of hacks in our own code base to overcome problems with the OS. Many times, the software developers themselves have to overcome the problems with the OS. Whatever stability the OS has comes from its Free BSD codebase. Win XP wouldn't have crashed 5% the number of times Tiger has crashed on our machines. We also got preview copies of Leopard and its no better at the moment.
We never had to do such things with Win XP. Though I have to say Vista is also as poor as Tiger. There are several things broken in Vista. As far as an OS goes, Win XP rules...
I used to work more with my Power Mac than my Windows machine when I had Panther installed. But that stability and performance ended with Panther. Tiger is so shitty that I am using my windows workstation more now.
