Well this new year have been really tough for me.

Mom got serious fracture.Tata motors workshop not repairing my car .And now my new home light bill is giving trouble.

I haven't occupied this place.

The light bills started to come from October 2011.But my neighbor forwarded to me the same for this month.

Now this place bill still comes on builders name. Its okk ill change the same in my free time later.

Now when i checked in detail every month without a single unit consumption i am getting 234 buks bill.

I checked this with my present bill where i stay.

And found some discrepancy that fixed charges of 200.

I mailed it to reliance. And their reply was that its correct. As connection to my new house is three phase and not single phase which it does for my present. So 100 buks.

Another 100 buks because connection load surpasses 10 kw.(in bill its mentioned 11).My present bill doesnt mention anything about connection load.

Now my doubt is:

1::As a residential user with consumption less than 500 units is my connection load thing mentioned correct?

2::I read on net and came to know .that three phase supply usually apply to commercial units of biggies like hotelier and all where they have huge laundry and all.So should i have to change my supply to single supply?

My new place have 2 split acs ,i guess couple of geyser points, and also hob is electric.

I dont plan to shift to this place soon.

So i feel unnecessarily i am paying much more.

Also i feel the builder while constructing was on 3 phase and as soon as meter change happened they didn't change the structure and all.

I need some view points of people. How to deal with this matter .

Should i give application for reduction in connection load?

Also i have no idea conversion from 3 phase to single phase happens or not.

Also should i talk to builder regarding same or to the reliance chap.

IMO, if possible, speak to reliance for temporarily shutting down your supply for say 3/6 months till the time that you will move in.

Keep 3 phase supply if and only if you consumption goes above 5KW. Suppose you are using 2x2 1.5 ton A/C simultaneously, then that will put a load of 4KW. Else, dont go for 3 phase.

Another useful thing about 3 phase is that in case one of the phases goes, still lights could be functional, if connections are made.

Speak to Reliance, IMO.

5KW cannot be equated to 500 units. the meter rating needs to be known first. is it 0.5KW per hour or 1KW per hour? the rating will be written somewhere on the bill.

Spoke to some Kalpana from REL on the 1800-200-3030 number.

1. Conversion is possible from 3 phase to single phase.

2. Max load supported by single phase is 8KW!

3. We can shut down the connection temporarily, but a written application to the divisional office is needed. Also, minimum charges of 30 Rs on single phase will be charged every month + duties and taxes. So expect around 35 bucks of charges total per month minimum.

Thanks vivek for the call and the information.

I'll visit their office in my area.As i also have to change the bill name to my father name on whom the flat is.

I'll ask my neighbor about his bill and see whether he too gets same bill or not.

Also what do you suggest should i continue with 3 phase or single phase.

Even in worst case i dont think our usage will touch 500 units which occur in single phase. My highest units consume is the month of may that too 250 units something. We use AC but only when its too hot that too for an hour.At max 3 hours a day.But geysers are never used than.

Well, even if you use 2x 1.5ton AC's together, it wont cross 5KW load. So, IMO, go with single phase. However, do find out if there are any charges for the same.

Sorry for bumping this thread.
But i receive this months electricty bill for reliance for my present residing resident.
And i am shock that wheeling charges have been applied to me even though my cable provider is reliance itself.Earlier i refuse to goto TAta because of wheeling charges neglecting my gain to hardly 100 bucks. But now if i go to Tata i might gain 400-500 bucks per month.

But i am failing to understand why all of a sudden wheeling charges are being applied?
