Hi Guys,

I'm looking to buy 21" monitor (an inch up or down is also fine) which I will be using to work long hours. I bought Dell S2240l and found it to very glossy and straining to eyes. Find it very difficult to cope with while working 7-8 hrs in a stretch.

I'm not very techy but from what I know, a matte finish monitor should work fine for my requirement. However, I have heard dt matte finish is not good for gaming or movies. My main work form the monitor requires at looking frequently changing numbers.. charting etc (I'm a trader) but I do a little bit of gaming and photography too. Please advice me on a decent monitor.

My budget is around 8-9K.

Thanks,
Manish

I have LG 22 MP55HQ. It has good picture quality & matte finish. I work more than 8hrs a day in front of this monitor.
LG 22 MP55HQ has one more advantage - This is a PWM free monitor, which will cause lesser eye strain compared to normal LED moniors.

Thanks Jose ! This looks decent one but one question.. Does this monitor has height adjustment by any chance ?

If you can raise your budget, get Dell UltraSharp - great all-round adjustment, matte screen, you can even put it in portrait mode, if req'd. Movies look wonderful.

Remember that even on a matte monitor, if there is a window bang opposite it, there would be diffused reflection. Text, charts will be OK, but video/movies will not be.

hi manishchan, you work from home or in an office ?

What type of lighting do you have ?

Gloss monitors are supposed to be worked in dim lighting spaces, else not useful.

My suggestion is rather than going for a change in monitor, try working in low light and see if it helps. Games and photos look better in gloss monitors.

You can always get monitor arms if you want height adjustment which are available locally in India at around ~3000.

Cheers

work from home... I have tried all kinda lightly SPR. :(

Tried low light, bright light, LED bulb... also tried adjusting the monitor's brightness etc. Prob is dt with low light in the room there is not much of reflection but then I get my eyes strained very quickly.. I just hope I dnt hv prob wid the antiglare (matte finish) monitor. Right now contemplating between LG MP55HQ or Dell E2014H ..
