Jeevanbeema nagar, tippasandara are next to Indiranagar and are not as costly, but are far from OMR. Rammurty nagar, Kasturi nagar are good areas and will be reasonably priced. Also, if you intend to stay in bangalore for 6-8 months, get yourself a bike. 8 months, you will lose half your hair to auto guys....remaining half will be taken by hard water :)
Regards,

I don't know how to ride a bike even though I can ride a cycle pretty well :ashamed: :'( [I am a bit scared of it since my namesake( who lived a floor above us) passed away in an accident just a month after he got a bike for his birthday]

What are the options for transport if one stays in Jeevanbeema Nagar, Tippasandra, Rammurty Nagar or Kasturi Nagar?

If you stay in Jeevanbeema nagar/Tippasandara, take a bus till CMH road metro station. Then take the metro to CDAC. Else take auto. Rammurty nagar/Kasturi nagar I am not sure. But these areas are nearer to CDAC as compared to JBN/Tippasandra.

Regards

My colleague stays in Tippasandra, he commutes by auto mainly and I heard the place is quite good. As for me, staying in Cooke Town, going to Byapanahalli Station would cost me Rs 40 by auto.

Use this site to find out routes and means of transport to reach various destinations in BLR: tellmyroute.com/Bengaluru

You can also find websites giving out the current location of almost all the local buses plying in BLR on google maps. I used to track Volvo buses to find out if I missed mine.

^ CDAC is about a couple of KMs from KR Puram railway station. It's one straight road only, and you will have buses for connectivity and the frequency will depend on the time of the day.

Is there a chance of huge traffic jam between KR Puram and Baiyappanahalli at 8-8.30AM?

There's a bridge/overbridge near KR Puram railway station, that area remains congested throughout the day. During the time you mentioned, it should be manageable.

Overall traffic tip in the city is, if it rains, then you are in a mess.

Nope. You'll be fine. I live 1 kms from CDAC on the same straight road (old madras road) @ayanavish mentioned. The traffic is not that much hassle so early in the morning. Though there might be days when you will have trouble returning ;)

Does the Baiyappanahalli area have any hotels?
Will need to stay in a hotel nearby. And most likely will have to stay in a hotel for almost 6-7 days. Hence want something decent but cheap.
Parents will be staying for the first 3 days.
Requirement - No 3/5 stars. Plain and simple. Budget is less than Rs.1000/day (if possible).

And if I take a BSNL prepaid connection, do I have to take it from the exchange or from any local shop? What do I show as address proof?

I haven't seen any in Baiyappanahalli. You can call up Justdial and ask them to text you a list of available hotels in the vicinity. A few are there in KR Puram.
Address proof should be any of these: http://www.bsnlteleservices.com/2012/12/valid-proof-of-identity-address-for-new-connection.html

My voter id card will not have the address of my hometown. Will it be accepted as address proof? Or do I have to submit something which will have the address of the PG where I will stay?

I checked on Justdial. Most are 3+ star hotels

Try service apartments. I know CMH road has got a few.

Regards,
Mohit

Are service apartments cheaper than hotels?

For KR Puram, will there be direct bus connectivity? And how long does it take to reach CDAC from there? I have heard a lot of wonderful things about the Bangalore traffic o_O

There will be direct buses to the Baiyappanahalli metro station.
No idea where the CDAC institute is.

Distance should be around 4-5km and takes around 30 mins or so in traffic.

No idea about Service Apartments but you can give a call and check out the pricing for a couple of hotels mentioned in Justdial / Asklaila / HolidayIQ / Tripadvisor, etc.

Don't worry too much about the documents, prepaid connections are quite easy to get as long as you have a valid ID proof.

It's BSNL after all. They try very hard to prevent their customer base from increasing. :D

@ayanavish , @sharktale1212 I may be staying for a month with my friends at a PG in Viviani Road[Richards Town](Google Maps shows that it is 6KM away from CDAC Knowledge Park).
There are two direct buses between these places - 122 and 123.
Do you guys have any idea about the frequency of these two?
