Find out a direct bus then. I was just trying to point out the frequency of bus plying on route# 123. Time table for 122 isn't available on that site.

B'lore has couple of more such sites which can help in finding out the right transport (combination of bus, taxi etc.)

For 123:

@gauravH My bad. Did not notice it since I am not used to the interface of the website.
Found the timings from another site too - http://travel2karnataka.com/123_bus_timings.htm

But I have a question for you guys. Does this bus route have only 1 bus in its fleet?
It looks like one bus starts from origin, reaches destination and then makes the return trip. Then that same bus starts off on the 2nd round trip! How can the bus frequency be so less?!

You cannot rely on the documented timings of the buses. Except for the 7.40 bus, I dont think any other run would be on time.

Mohit

@ayanavish , @sharktale1212 I may be staying for a month with my friends at a PG in Viviani Road[Richards Town](Google Maps shows that it is 6KM away from CDAC Knowledge Park).
There are two direct buses between these places - 122 and 123.
Do you guys have any idea about the frequency of these two?

Nope, no idea about 122 and 123 and as @sharktale1212 and @gauravH mentioned it looks you have to walk a bit to reach the nearest bus stand to get the bus. In general, buses here are unpredictable and sporadic except in a few routes. A good idea would be to ask the conductors of these buses about the timing and they would be able to give you a fair idea. Once you start commuting you will get a hang of the timing in the first week itself.

Expect at least an hour delay between buses

I saw a MBS-19 bus listed in tellmyroute.com when I put Clarence School and Baiyappanahalli as the origin and destination. On the official website of BMTC, I can not find it. Neither is it listed on travel2karnataka.com

Is the MBS series some kind of special bus service?

This is what I get in GMaps.[DOUBLEPOST=1376335289][/DOUBLEPOST]@gauravH Timetable and frequency in unavailable for both 123 and 122 on that website. I checked it out before I posted here.

Well thats odd. From what I see on Tellmyroute for 123, it goes towards Maruti Sevanagar and old Byappanhalli. It is no where near the place you want to go.
Even yesterday I tried looking it up on google, it showed no direct buses. Frankly, given my current experiences in Bangalore using gmaps (it kept showing banks/restuarants/shops at places where there were none) I rather take the information with a pinch of salt.

Best option in my opinion will be - take an auto for the first day. Bangalor auto charges are Rs.11/- per km. Autowallah's will ask 10-20 extra over the meter. So you should make it around 66-77+10-20 . Once the classes are over, walk to the bus stand at Byappanhalli - ask someone about the buses. You will find some help for sure.

Yes. Google Maps is not entirely accurate.
I was just checking a few things in my city and the bus routes that it gave were horrendous to say the least.

Definitely don't go by Google maps all the time, especially while checking public transport. Prepare to spend some money on autos for a couple of days, figure out the buses and the routes and then travel. While travelling by autos, always go by the meter, never settle on an amount beforehand,

Wow, Biggest discussion for stay in Bangalore even OP wants to stay for few months. Not seen even married guys with few kids worry this much :)
Few things in mind,
Bangalore has most pleasant weather so dont worry about metro, auto etc, You can just take walk if its near by.
You will loose half of you hairs as its hard water everywhere. Prefer to get a home with has "Cauvery" water connections as its soft.
Borewell levels are gone down so make sure whereever you stay have enough tanker supply.
CDAC also helps in finding near by PG & stay. Better talk to them.

^^ When it's guaranteed that a couple of months' stay in Bangalore will make someone lose half of his/her hair, then this much worry/discussion is quite justified :p

I'm staying in Bangalore since my childhood and need to visit a barber every 45 days. In fact, it's getting hard to find a decent barber shop with affordable rates. Perhaps this might make me start losing my hair, which will also solve my problem to find a decent barber in the first place. But if my problem is solved and I am not stressed, will the hair return? Hmmm... a point to wonder on.

Is there any rule by which I can force them to run by the meter? My friends who are staying there from last month have had a harrowing time with trying to travel by the meter.
In my present city, if taxis do not travel by the meter, we can complain to the traffic police or normal police and in around 60-70% of cases some action is taken. Do the cops there take action against the autos?

I am doing this to get my parents off my back. If I can present most of the information to them before I step foot there, they will not worry so much. Otherwise they will make me go mad. :banghead:

There is a way to complain against autos not plying by meter. Google for the details. You need to send SMS to a number with specific details. Bangalore Traffic police do raise chalans against such drivers. Atleast they do show it in their monthly fine statistics that they post on facebook. All said and done, if your start and end point are not near favourable locations (as per auto drivers) you will have tough time getting an auto to go there on meter. Why dont you consider a bike? I believe there are ways to rent bikes for 2-3 months.
Primary reason for people losing hair in bangalore is hardwater coupled with dealing with autos/bmtc conductors/indicab drivers :)

Is there a railway station beside the Baiyappanahalli Metro terminus?
The Bangalore East railway station is near to Viviani road. My friend was told by a person that it is better to take a train from Bangalore East to Baiyappanahalli. It takes around 5-10 minutes by train.
I just hope that the person who gave this advice knows if there is a railway station operational at Baiyappanahalli.

I searched and found this page - http://transportbangalore.blogspot.in/p/trains-of-bangalore-city.html
Is there any official website which charts the trains between these two stations? Should I search for it on IRCTC?
Isn't there any local train(suburban railway) service in Bangalore? Does everyone use express trains only?

P.S: Are Baiyappanahalli and Byappanahalli two different places?

Thanks for all the replies.
Enjoying the weather here for the last 6 days. I have to commute for 1 hour everyday but the food and accomodation is great at the place where I live.
